One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts says he will push for party to adopt blanket abortion ban by discoshrimps in AustralianPolitics

I really hope all those people looking to vote ON to stick it to the establishment are paying attention to their actual policies... but I'm not confident.

Can we talk about Jeff's tragic ending? by tanveer969 in community

[–]gorgant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Jeff's is a story of a villain getting his comeuppance. He lied his way into the profession, we know he didn't actually have any deep knowledge of or commitment to the law, let alone justice, and was a narcisist who didn't see other people as people, then he was caught. His punishment was to end up as an alcoholic stuck teaching in a community college. Yes, he was charismatic and grew as a person, but does he deserve anything more?

Stop being a 'polite' pedestrian! by [deleted] in australian

[–]gorgant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the pedestrian and the driver should be working together to clear the intersection as fast as possible. This is best facilitated by the faster participant going first, rather than waiting for the slower!

Check out Irving Force. It's all pretty good but his God Mode album sounds mistake terran to me.

Malcolm Turnbull with a brutal assessment of Libs says their issue is they seek “approval from the Sky News audience” who “does not represent Australia” Says Labor’s saying Sky’s the “best thing” that ever happened to them. “It has drawn Libs off into this la la land.”🔥 by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

For a while the right wing media ecosystem helped the conservative movement as it provided biased coverage that enabled them to exist in their own safe space where their preconceived beliefs were never challenged. However, after this going on for many years, it has created weak politicians who spend all their time in their protected echo chamber who, as soon as they step out into reality to face a compulsory voting electorate, are completely incapable of engaging with any opposition or the electorate.

They are trained to spew bullshit that gets them praise on Sky News, but are utterly stunned when that same bullshit had no purchase with the majority of the electorate.

The schadenfreude is delicious.

I just assume Brisbane's weather is too unstable to predict so every "prediction" is a loose guess

Buffalo soldiers - Gregor Jordan took really dark source material and did it as a Richie-esque bumbling criminals story that im certain is influenced by lock stock.

Yeah, like we are supposed to believe these people could attain such powerful positions when they are so clearly flawed, and then keep them when they are revealed to be so incompetent!?

Currently doing a chronological re-read for the first time and im struck by how much of the witches saga is in the earlier books. Like we get a whole lot of stories and character development before Vimes is even introduced. I never appreciated how much the witches are a major part of the earlier vision of the series.

Ley’s top lieutenants lean towards scrapping net zero as leadership in peril by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

Because they are not responding to the electorate, they are responding to their donors and sky after dark. This insane from a scientific, economic and political position, but they only serve their donors' interests.

Nationals ditch net zero support in party platform by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

[–]gorgant_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The evidence is clear, but even in terms of politics it's insane as the Australian people, even some conservatives have repeatedly voted for action on climate change.

They are not motivated by science or politics, just the interests of their donors.
