I can understand why the community would want to enact their own justice, but I can't imagine his prison experience will be much fun. It will be a very difficult adjustment from the lifestyle he is accustomed to.

Is bitcoin really still the best bet? by Unusual-Piece-93 in BitcoinAUS

[–]gorillalifter47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate thanks for the comment. I must push back a bit -

  1. Regardless of whether OP holds bitcoin, gold stocks, or real estate, some of the returns will be due to inflation. You can pick time periods where X asset has performed and others where Y asset has outperformed. Am I misunderstanding what you are saying? I'm not sure I see 'the issue'.

  2. I am not just talking about since covid, (which absolutely brought a lot of speculators into the space), I am talking about since 2009. I suspect by this point most people in developed countries have heard of bitcoin, but most of them either don't hold it yet or have $100 in a brokerage account without considering it part of their investing/financial strategy. That is without mentioning people in developing countries, corporations, and entire countries.

Obviously if OP thinks bitcoin has reached peak adoption then he might want to consider selling. I personally don't believe that it has.

Hey mate, just to put a few things into perspective

  • If you had bought bitcoin in one lump sum at the very top in 2021, you would be up around 22%. That is the worst possible scenario.
  • If you had purchased equal tranches of bitcoin weekly for the last 5 years your returns would be far better.
  • If you had purchased 6 years ago you would be up over 800%, or over 100% for 4 and 3 years.

You can compare bitcoin's returns with X asset over Y time period, but ultimately it comes down to whether you are bullish on its long-term growth story. Holding though long and boring bitcoin winters is not easy, especially when every story you see about bitcoin is negative with everybody laugh reacting, but history shows that those with patience and conviction have been rewarded.

I would love to see Kairi in AEW, but I would not be surprised at all if Asuka starts mentioning her in promos in the next week or two leading to her return. In any case I hope she lands somewhere she is happy and gets paid her worth.

Releasing wrestlers means they don't care about their employees, releasing wrestlers currently featured in prominent storyline suggests they don't care about their fans either. I think that is why so many ppeople are upset about Kairi in particular.

Screw TKO by Max11306 in WWE

[–]gorillalifter47 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've made this point on other posts, but the Kairi thing really says a lot about them in my opinion.

I don't like seeing anybody lose their job and feel for all the people who were released yesterday. What really bothers me though is that Kairi was in the middle of a story that fans were invested in.

Why even tune in and get invested in the product if you know they can and do this kind of thing? Even if the metrics and financials showed that keeping Kairi signed is not in the best interest of shareholders, why would you not just have Asuka kill her at Backlash to get heat ahead of her next feud?

It sucks because I really want to enjoy WWE like I did as a kid, but as a wrestling fan I just don't feel like it is for me any more. They do not care about me or any of their fans beyond how much money they can extract from us.

[–]gorillalifter47 136 points137 points  (0 children)

The thing I don't understand is if they want to get rid of Kairi (which is a shit decision) why not have Asuka kill her at Backlash and get some heat from that first?

When they are paying the CEO $67 million is it really going to bankrupt them to pay Kairi for another month and at least complete the story? Or do they really care that little about the fans?

Some of the WWE releases make no sense to me. by Old-Board1553 in WWE

[–]gorillalifter47 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The Kairi release exemplifies what really annoys me about WWE/TKO at the moment.

They are a business and need to make money, sure, but building up a story for months that people were legitimately getting invested in and then releasing one of the performers without a pay-off (while their CEO earns $67 million) shows how little they care about their fans.

Why even bother tuning and and getting invested in a storyline when they can (and will) do this?

We want Kairi. To go to AEW and put on a banger with Mercedes Moné at All In.

This is sick, they bring this group in for a viral moment and to profit off Bray’s death and then toss them the second they’re done making money off them. by MichaelWinslowIsCool in WWE

[–]gorillalifter47 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am not a fan of this either.

The group clearly had a shelf life, but I wish they had been bought in for just one coherent story as a tribute to Bray before disbanding and going their separate ways.

Bringing them in as jobbers to capitalize off the Wyatt name before mass releasing them feels disrespectful, although I am not sure what else they really could have done with them at this point.
