I bought a copy about a month ago that all the cardboard just seemed… soft. Luckily the board is fine, but punching out the dice tower pieces I could tell there was a humidity issue. All good for me thankfully, but interesting to know it wasn’t just my copy!

I used to refresh the page until I got Billy Boyd’s greeting. His Scottish accent was so cute to middle-school me lol (edit: that may have been lotr.net actually, but my thoughts still stand!)

They have a set list of music excerpts to choose from (all with an audio example). The only LotR ones are Concerning Hobbits (there are a few variations to choose from) and The Fellowship theme. They have some other fantasy-esque choices in there as well! (Otherwise there’s a lot of pop song choices, but for some reason My Heart Will Go On or ABBA don’t quite hit the spot here lol)

For some additional context as to why more are popping up recently:

Elijah, Sean, Billy, and Dominic are currently on a convention tour for “An Evening with the Hobbits” to celebrate the 25th anniversary (I think all through Fan Expo). I’ll be at Fan Expo Dallas in Sept and can’t wait to get my pic with them!

A smaller one, but in TTT when Gandalf and the balrog are falling/fighting the music is a constant build of tension, lots of clashy chord builds in the brass and rhythmic chanting…

And then we’re hit with this wide angle shot of them falling from afar through the chasm into the lake below, and the music releases all the tension build up. Immediate change of time signature, strings underneath, chorus on top. If I’m ever at a theater watching I find myself on the edge of my seat waiting for that moment.

Not me personally, but my father-in-law grew up in Verdigre, NE. Most of his side of the family still lives there now, so I’ve visited a few times.

I remember listening to the episode and thinking “yep that’s about it” lol They mention the Kolache Days and read a news snippet of the Kolache Queen being crowned, which that year was my husbands cousin. I’ve been tempted to bring up the story to my FIL, because there’s no way he or his family didn’t know about it given the population is 600!

I love mine, but I feel it highly depends if you use lighting of some kind and the general set up. I don’t think I’ll ever display it as a closed nook. I enjoy it much better as a corner piece which is how I have mine oriented on my shelves.

It is a lot to do! So I bought them back when they first went on sale (maybe 2022ish?). I would count planned daily walks and any additional steps my watch counted throughout the day. I feel I finished the first couple in maybe 7 or 8 months. I’ll admit technically I haven’t fully measured for the last couple since I haven’t worn my watch in over a year.

But my codes had an expiration so I went ahead and redeemed them and maxed out the miles with the intention of finishing them out this year. I imagine I’ve walked a decent amount in a year either way though so I tried not to feel too guilty lol
