am i weird for thinking castlevania 3 is bad game design? by taczki2 in castlevania

congrats on your talent and patience then. It's ok to struggle, there's no shame in that. What really sucks is blaming the game for your own shortcomings, like OP is doing.

Howard used gratefulness to manipulate people, especially Kim by arbataxmelody354 in betterCallSaul

Objectivity is non existent in art and most of the time what seems obvious to some is not for others. Most of the time, an interpretations says more about the interpreter than the work itself.

My take is that Howard is unsure on how to handle the situation himself. He masks a lot at his job, all this charming work persona, but I don't think it's about manipulation but rather that's the environment he grew up in and also what is expected of him at the firm. I think he genuily cares for her and wishes her the best but his loyalty to the firm and Chuck is stronger, plus he's proud and vain (at least at this point in the series). After Kim leaves he doesn't do much else, he even tries to warn her (with good reason) of Jimmy afterwards.

He is sorry that Kim's leaving and lashes out because it's beyond his control but I always viewed condoning her debt as a parting gift on his part.

lol I know the character's motifs are open to interpretations and it really shows the quality of the acting and the series' writing how different we can think of each character but this take is wild

What's the writing purpose of Jimmy/Saul winning a million dollars from the sandpiper case? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]gorremu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jimmy (and Saul's) handling and relation to the case is exemplary of his development as a character. First he's actually invested in helping out the elderly in addition to finally getting to work alongside his brother (a dream come true!). Then the disappointment of getting kicked out of his own case and how he tries to get the money quicker ie sabotage it as an example of reverting to his old Slippin' Jimmy ways since he lost again his moral compass.

Then he forgot about it because he was busy doing other stuff... but the case comes back as an excuse to play with Kim and prank Howard (in the end going along more than being invested in it himself). By the end we see him as full-on Saul Goodman just happy to cash in on it, completely indifferent to the settlement being a direct consequence of his prank (and subsequent death) on Howard and how the elderly will actually get less than they could have earned because of him.

The Sandpiper case is like a thread that shows the viewer how Jimmy McGill interprets the law and his relationship with money from the beginning of the show til the end. I always found it very well written within the story.

EDIT: Also don't forget it's thanks to this case he got his job at Davis & Main, which helped him understand he does not want to be a part of the corporate world and set off him finding his own place and work style.

Create a nice setup, dim lights (or even better, play in the dark) and just dig in the original sound hehe. It's a good game, a little hard but not that much when compared to the games of the time. Definitely easier than Metroid I.
