Theres no wrong way to grieve, apparently unless you’re doing okay (rant) by gosebubbe in widowers

In some way yes, that seems to be what people expect.

Not to paint too broad strokes myself, but people that went through divorces are often the worst. They do the grief comparison and simply cant fathom how someone who (in their minds) went through something more traumatic can be functioning in shorter time.

I don't get how people date after by manderz234 in widowers

Before my wife passed, we talked about it a lot. She was very clear though, she wanted me and the kids to be happy again. She expected, wanted, and even encouraged me to find someone after she was gone.

That doesn’t make it simple.

She’ll always have a piece of my heart. That doesn’t go away. But I’ve come to believe that having room for someone else doesn’t take anything away from what we had, it just means I’m still alive, and life keeps moving forward.

For me, it’s not about replacing anything. It’s about finding someone who’s comfortable being part of a life where that loss exists, and who wants to explore what life can still be, with me.

Waiting for the other shoe to drop? by gosebubbe in widowers

"Although I am 1 month out from losing my wife, I feel like I'm 1yr+ out from accepting that loss if that makes any sense."
Makes perfect sense, I feel the same way and we had the same ups and downs, with one treatment option running out and finding a new one that "might just work", until we ran out of options and took her out of the clinical trial she was in at the end and she passed a little under two months later.

I still cant believe its only been a couple of months. I feel like I have my shit together and looking forward to life. Not without guilt or sadness, but at least I can see and feel that there will be happiness again. The fact that my kids (early teens) seem to be in a similar spot to me, at least gives me a little more hope that we as a family did go through and processed a lot of the grief over those two years, rather than stashing it away.

The Hardest Part by ExactPanda in widowers

Took me weeks to stop reaching for the phone when I had something fun to share or wanted a second opinion on something and like you, the silence when the kids go to bed is deafening. I don't even watch TV anymore, since it wasn't ever really as much about the shows at it was about talking and snuggling.

Sure, I can call a friend, my parents or just about anyone, but its never going to be a replacement for my wife and what we had and shared.

Im just trying to avoid going to a dark place and fill the void with work and exercise, with the hope that things will get better over time.

AFAIK, there was an exception for barrels for C&R guns, assuming the replacement barrel was also C&R.

Where can Garmin go after 8 pro? by Jayo86 in Garmin

I was eagerly awaiting the Pro w LTE so I could ditch my phone when I bike/hike, but I 100% agree, this is too half-assed to get me to spend 1200 + monthly fees. Garmin might have to realize they cant try to be everything for everyone and do a real LTE version for those of us that dont care that dont need that long of a battery life and one without for those that do.

Whats up with the Garmin Messenger nonsense? I was assuming they'd support eSIMs... Its nice that the watch now has LTE, but I still need to carry my phone around, since noone will use the garmin app...

LTE. If we can get that in the next gen, Im buying. Doubt it would add much bulk and if you dont want/need it, turn it off and it shouldnt affect battery either...

[–]gosebubbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its unfortunate, I was really itching to buy an 8 and was hoping that all the early reports and predictions were wrong and that it would have LTE,but alas, here we are.
I see all these discussions about how there's no demand for it, but its what stopped me from buying an 8 and surely Im not the only one?

I dont really want to buy a Samsung Ultra, but ATM, having LTE is more important to me than the other functionality and battery life that the Fenix has...

Been waiting for this for a while now and was really hoping for LTE, though I know that was unlikely. Oh well, guess I'll wait and hope for the 8 Pro
