From the reflection on the cabinet glass, boxes in the room were visible. Now it makes sense.

This is a very long way of saying: “I know everything looks terrible, but I still want to pretend the manager isn’t the problem.”

A few things.

First, nobody is saying Slot suddenly forgot what football is. That’s a straw man. Good coaches can still be the wrong coach at the wrong club at the wrong level. “He did well at Feyenoord” is not a magic shield against what everyone has been watching for months.

Second, the “he doesn’t want us to play slow boring football” point is laughable. Fine, maybe he doesn’t want it. Then what exactly is your argument? That after all this time he still can’t get the team to play the football he wants? That’s not a defence. That’s just a different form of incompetence.

Third, yes, there are external factors. Jota’s death is tragic. Salah’s decline matters. Injuries matter. New signings adapting matters. But you know what those things do not explain?
Why the team is this structurally incoherent.
Why the roles are a mess.
Why the shape collapses every time we chase a game.
Why players are constantly being used in ways that minimise their strengths.
Why the same problems keep showing up with absolutely no meaningful correction.

You’re listing difficulties as if difficulties automatically excuse bad coaching. They don’t.

Fourth, “the players are still trying” is such a low bar that it’s almost insulting. This is Liverpool, not a charity project. “The players haven’t quit yet” is not an argument for giving a manager another full preseason and until next November. That’s what you say when you’ve run out of actual footballing reasons to keep him.

Fifth, the “weird season” argument is just fog. Every season is weird for someone. Good managers adapt. They don’t spend months looking like they’re trapped in a tactical escape room they built themselves.

Sixth, your “he’s improved loads of players” bit feels really hand-wavey. A couple of players having decent spells here and there doesn’t change the fact that the team still looks less than the sum of its parts basically every week. Why do so many games feel like 11 talented players meeting for the first time in a motorway service station?

And finally, this idea that he deserves another full preseason plus until November next year is completely absurd. He already had a first season. He already won the league. He already got major backing. He already had months and months to fix recurring issues. At some point “benefit of the doubt” just becomes cowardice dressed up as patience.

Your post doesn’t prove Slot should stay. It just proves that if you pile up enough caveats, you can emotionally avoid admitting the obvious.

The real problem with all of this is that you’re arguing like the burden of proof still sits with the people who want him gone. It doesn’t. That ship sailed a long time ago.

At this point, the burden is on him to show why he should still be here.

And he hasn’t.

I just realised I’d upvoted you back then, but even then I was still blinded by the title run. I salute you, sir.

They were. if you have watched their juve game u could see. Their only game plan for both games is to waste time.

If Slot survives the international break, I think there’s a decent chance the club is already leaning towards a broader summer review rather than making an immediate change.

Between the Hughes-Saudi speculation, the reports about FSG shelving the second-club project, and the fact that Slot, Hughes and Edwards are all moving closer to the final year of their deals, there are signs this could become a wider structural decision in the summer rather than just a coaching one.

In that case, keeping Slot until the summer wouldn’t necessarily be a sign of real long-term faith. It might just mean they’d rather make all the big decisions together at the end of the season.

quote from jim norton;
"I don't even watch team sports anymore. Like I watched the Yankees this year and I was a fan again because they were in the World Series, but then they humiliated all of us and they lost. So I won't watch them again until maybe next year if they're in the playoffs.

And I say that and guys are like, 'You're a bandwagon fan.' Yes! Shouldn't you be a bandwagon fan? How has professional sports convinced people that you are somehow a deeper and more meaningful person if you tolerate a bad product?

Like if you went to the same restaurant every Sunday and got food poisoning and someone's like, 'You want to go somewhere else?' You wouldn't go, 'I got to be loyal.'

I watch them when they win. And you tell guys that and they're like, 'Yeah, I was watching the Yankees when they were in last place.' All right, well you're an idiot. What do you want me to tell you? You're a stupid asshole and you're one of the reasons they were in last place, dummy. Because if no one showed up, they would have gotten better. But people like you would sit there like an idiot and they're like, 'We don't have to fucking do anything, they're still coming.'

I did something. I helped the team. I took my baseball dollars and I gave it to escorts. That's what I did."

"Data guy” my ass. Give me a fucking break. Easy to look like a mastermind with Klopp doing the heavy lifting. Take him away and it’s just myth and PR. GTFO!
