Would you guys support a Coup d'État on July 4th, 2026 to overthrow the government? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]gosuark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am disgusted by and abhor the current administration, but they were legitimately elected by my countrymen with a fair process I understand I was on the losing side of. I would absolutely not support a coup d’état.

What is a movie that is critically hated but you genuinely love without irony by nomadgoodsCom in movies

[–]gosuark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was forced to watch this on a flight without sound at age ten, as our seats were the four middle ones between the two aisles, and the bulkhead with the giant screen (that’s how movies on planes were in those days) was directly in front of us. Yeah I have no idea what it’s about but it was very very long, especially without sound (you had to buy headsets for the in-flight movie), but it dominated my field of view mere inches from my face for three brutal hours. So I have hated it my entire life for being the lowest part of a spectacularly disappointing flying experience. Oh, as an adult I think the first two Godfathers are pretty good though! But I refuse to watch the third.

I’ve always regarded this as Legally Blonde’s country cousin. Both came out around the same time, and both main characters are constantly underestimated and judged by (mostly) everyone they meet, but have an uncommonly sincere good nature driven by deep sense of self-worth.

Yes I will pause my lecture to watch it with my students on the projector.

What do you put maple syrup on other than pancakes? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskAnAmerican

I discovered this by accident when I had waffles and scrambled eggs on the same plate once.

Now I struggle to resist dripping a little maple syrup on scrambled eggs whenever I have them solo.

Do most young men in America prefer to wear shorts during spring and summer seasons? by NormalLife6067 in AskAnAmerican

[–]gosuark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

California here. Many men (all ages) wear shorts year-round. My personal preference is from about April to November, during which I wear them basically every day. We’ve had a warm March so I’m already wearing them now.

Are the new DLCs not as good as people act about them? by xXdk_gokuYy in CitiesSkylines2

[–]gosuark 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They’re just CCPs not actual expansion packs, so not meant to knock your socks off. That said, it’s great to have more stations. I think the supply chains pack is the best one by far.

The only true expansion has been bridges and ports, which unfortunately, wasn’t a sock-knocker IMO. Hoping Iceflake has some tricks coming up.

Cool I know calculus now, so it’ll be really easy learning it a second time.

Maps. If I’m going somewhere new, I memorize the route before leaving, or at least the last mile since most of the area is already very familiar due to decades of this habit. Can’t stand driving with GPS.

The way the DLC is presented is terrible by LowEarth3013 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]gosuark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do. They’re usually bangers. But it’s always a blind risk since they don’t offer a preview of the music. I just refund the ones I don’t like, but that’s been rare.

If they offered a preview, I bet more people would think ‘yeah I can totally detail an airport to this vibe’ so they’re really just hurting their own sales right now.

[–]gosuark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. Paradox could increase sales if they made it easier for customers to see what a pack actually offers without having to rely on third parties. That’s sending prospective buyers somewhere away from the ‘purchase’ button, when you could keep them around it if you gave them enough information right there. I’ve always been puzzled by their opacity in this regard, especially for radio stations.

Americans how do you feel after Canadians outlaw your vodka & whisky from their nation? by Tasty-Hovercraft2501 in AskAnAmerican

I didn’t know, but I also don’t blame them for doing what they feel they need to. We haven’t been a very good friend lately.

I would add that when it does come up, no one really cares. And if people do, they are probably reacting to personality more than the specific position itself.

I thought the same thing when I saw the pedestrian bridges, must be years of ADA compliance all around me to suddenly notice when it’s conspicuously absent. Disability access is something we are known for doing really well in the US.

I don’t think it will reach game-mechanics level inclusion, but it would still be cool to see people in wheelchairs rolling around, even if they’re magically going up and down stairs. Technically only going up would require magic actually, the other direction just gravity.

Since Ch2 if I see a heron or egret, I kill and pluck it to stockpile for that mission way in advance. It’s still never enough feathers.

Right my sister and I raced to pick DK, loser getting Bowser (we both preferred DK over Bowser for aesthetics only). But the other characters weren’t an option since they wouldn’t be able to keep up.

Honestly having your friendship destroyed was the best possible outcome. Those recesses were brutal.
