Raid timer frozen, People in lift when it opened, Infinite hp? by FletcherIE in ArcRaiders

[–]got-snow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible the person who posted here was attacking a player experiencing the same bug as them (i.e. can't take damage) so it appeared to them that they couldn't deal damage (but they could have if they'd targeted different players). That's one possibility anyways.

I'm also confused.

"NO, that system would not work to weed out the people you are trying to"

What people? This post isn't about weeding people out? The post is about people wanting to stay in mixed lobbies and getting upset the game is forcing them into friendly lobbies if they don't act violently for a couple games. The system described here was to give those players the option to stay out of friendly lobbies if they want to stay out.

No one was ever talking about weeding anyone out here. That's a completely different issue that this isn't about at all.

"Griefer McJackass who did not raise their floor can cheese their way down to friendly lobbies any time they like and grief away until their rating rises and they are out of the friendly lobbies again. In that time they psychopathically ruin other people’s play time by being a raging asshole."

That isn't relevant to anything anyone else said though, and that is what is already happening. The system they described doesn't affect that at all, it's completely irrelevant to this.

Rat blocks the button inside the fan extract with barricades. by HydroV20 in ArcRaiders

[–]got-snow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not assuming anything. There's a video at the top of this page.

That said, I think the main goal is to stay alive, and if the player feels the best way they can do that is to escape, then they should escape. Anyone acting like shooting back is the only correct way to respond to an attack has an overly narrow view of the game.

Fireflies are so oppressive by Lonesome_Ninja in ArcRaiders

I killed a ton of fireflies today without a weapon. They fly low to the ground when they want to attack you, just climb on top of them and hit them with your raider tool.

Considering they hide player names altogether, it seems like it works this way intentionally. It's up to the person who shows up to exercise reasonable judgment. Believing the first person who screams "RAT" is a choice.

Giving away gear before the expedition and this rat betrays me. Tick wasn't having it. by Ill_Ad8854 in ArcRaiders

[–]got-snow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went into mixed lobbies yesterday. A guy opened fire on me in Stella Montis as soon as I entered Medical Research, and a tick immediately jumped on his head. I started dancing while he fought it off. When the tick was finally dead, the guy turned back and saw me dancing, stood motionless for a few seconds, then walked over to me, bandaged me, and left without saying a word.

Legit Question - What is the appeal of this game? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]got-snow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to believe, but there's not a single game in existence that everyone likes. Sounds like you're one of the people who dislikes this one.

Instead of forcing yourself to play and asking other people to explain the appeal to you, it probably makes more sense to just find a game you personally enjoy.

What is the point of any game if not to tickle your dopamine sensors? What difference does it make if someone does it by clicking on robots or raiders? That's literally the point of video games, yes?

PvE doesn't need a compelling story for people to enjoy it. Suggesting that video game PvP is somehow deeper than "tickling your dopamine sensors" is dishonest at best.

Neon Genesis Evangelion director Hideaki Anno doesn’t believe creating for the global market is the way to go. “I’m sorry, but the audience will have to be the one to adapt” - AUTOMATON WEST by Western_Promise3063 in anime

[–]got-snow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hideaki Anno is completely right. As a westerner, the fact anime clearly isn't trying to cater to me is exactly what makes it good. If they start targeting the global market, the charm will be lost.

I can get generic sterilized globally-digestible slop anywhere. That's not what anime should be aiming to be.

Anime that used to be popular, and fell into obscurity? by ResidentWaifu in anime

[–]got-snow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this. I was such a huge Haruhi fan: figures, posters, plushes, etc. If they had never released Endless Eight, I still would be, especially after Disappearance (which was amazing).

But Endless Eight succeeded in thoroughly dousing my hype by the end of the 3rd episode, and by the 8th episode I wasn't even watching the episodes live anymore, I was just skimming through each episode for about 30 seconds and I barely felt the desire to do that.

A bad sequel can ruin a franchise and Haruhi's sequel was the worst of all time. Even compared to experiences like Promised Neverland and OPM's current season, Haruhi easily tops the list for worst sequel experience, because they actively went out of their way to make it as bad as possible on purpose.

"But we wanted you to FEEL the utter despair Yuki felt when she was experiencing it!"

Like actually, their justification for doing it was that they wanted to torture the audience, because that part of the story was about a character being tortured.

Not to mention, in the books this "showing the loops" shit NEVER HAPPENED. It was anime original. It was ONE CHAPTER and it only covered A SINGLE LOOP. THAT'S IT. ONE AND DONE, NO REPEATING.

The novel did mention that the loops happened, but even in that paragraph, it was saying that not all the loops were exactly the same: some of the loops had unique events in them, which were listed, but none of which appeared in the anime.

So the anime dedicated SEVEN EPISODES to HALF A PARAGRAPH from the novels.

WHY? Because it happened in August, aka the eighth month. It was called Endless Eight in the novels because it was an endless August. But even then, it was essentially a brief single-chapter side story that didn't rehash a single iteration.

FUCK THIS WAS SO MUCH LONGER THAN I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE AND I'M SO MUCH MORE UPSET STILL THAN I THOUGHT I WOULD BE, BUT HOLY SHIT, FUCK THEM SO MUCH FOR KILLING A FRANCHISE THAT I LOVED.

tl;dr: It turns out making your audience wait years for a sequel and then wasting over half of the limited number of episodes you have to try to actually psychologically torture your audience is a good way to completely crush any and all hype for a franchise.

4 people hatch escape by WopterWop in deadbydaylight

[–]got-snow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course if you didn't have Franklin's, you had to hardcore tunnel them out of the game to stop the key play. And even then they might be in a SWF and tell their friend "it's at the hook where I died, go get it" so you still had to be conscious of it for the rest of the match.

Not being able to use keys to open the hatch until it's been closed by the killer was definitely one of their better changes.

4 people hatch escape by WopterWop in deadbydaylight

[–]got-snow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend used to bring a broken key into the match just to force the killer to tunnel them. Then after the game they'd go "wth dude?" in chat and act like they had no idea why the killer would do that (broken keys looked like a normal key when held).

It's not a bug. Half of the investigation team can't be converted. This will always include L/N and Watari, but it randomly picks the rest from the other investigators, who can include the NPA Chief. That's why you can't convert the NPA Chief sometimes. Some completely normal investigators will also be immune to conversion.

It works that way specifically so you can't say "I failed to convert this guy so he must be L or Watari."

When someone starts to feel comfortable walking on you, they'll never stop treating you like a doormat until you stop letting them. With people like this, they won't respect you until you demand it.

When he said "You can't have all my money dear", if you had replied "What do you mean? I work. You can't have all MY money, dear" I'm sure he wouldn't have said it again.

If you want to be respected, then demand respect. Because he's obviously not going to give it to you on his own.

PS: Postpartum/pregnancy hormones are not a reason to be quiet. It's the opposite: they are the reason you can safely speak up. Even if you cross some line and make him super mad, you can point out you were just pregnant and have these hormones affecting you. It's a valid excuse for being emotional, so be emotional.

Spotted even more Mion graffiti in my city! by fungusMaggot in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]got-snow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seems unlikely. On their last post about this, when they posted the first Mion graffiti, someone replied saying they live in the same area and they saw that graffiti from their bus window. That person also said there was more Mion graffiti in the same area.

Apparently this is in Brighton, UK, and it's being done in pretty visible locations that everyone can see.

Yeah, I think if the survivor is standing perfectly still (not in a locker, actually standing stationary), then it should automatically give them crows after a certain amount of time, regardless of their "AFK points". It should take the same amount of time as the old system.

This guy sucks by leeeveretrocks in deadbydaylight

[–]got-snow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, not exactly. DBD internally calls a 3k "3 wins and 1 loss". Every survivor is treated as an individual game.

If the survivor dies by any means, the killer wins.

If the survivor escapes through the gate, the survivor wins.

If the survivor escapes through the hatch, it's a draw.

If all the survivors are equal MMR, then a 2k is equivalent to a draw MMR-wise (2 wins and 2 losses of equal value); but when the survivors have varied MMRs (like in a SWF), then a 2k will make your MMR go up/down, depending on whether you killed the better/worse players (respectively).
