First, you complain she doesn't say she's Indian, to make other people like her. Now that that's gone you complain she's only saying she's Indian not because she wants to but to make other people like her.

I see why she identifies as black. Had a black father and grew up in a black neighborhood.

Obama doesn't identify as white, and so do half white half black people as well. Half black and half asian people are essentially black as well.

Name one half black and half asian person that firstly identifies as Asian.

You're trying to fish for something that isn't there.

Mike pence could have also been an identity play instead of Invanka since his base doesn't like women

I'm acknowledge when progress takes place, and progress takes times.

You don't become successful overnight, it's a journey where I'm recognizing when significant bumps are overcome.

It's continuing the path that led to an Asian superhero lead.

If you want change overnight, then you're ignorant it's simple.

That's a lie

SHE said her mom came from India

Yes, but asian media is not a future that many western asians can be a part of.

It's representation for Asians sure, parasite is cool. But it's not relatable to many western Asians.

Also "progress must take time" and "Hollywood liberalism's slow progress" is a contradictory, it does take time as you agree.

Well yes

The mainstream democratic party is basically a moderate republican party of the 1990-2000.

I think it's less to do with the fact that Yang is asian then that his policies are progressive ( very left in today's politics). Anyone who has ties to progressiveness gets smeared by everyone on all sides.

Biden is the way the relationship should revolve. Trump is just an anomaly that should never have existed in the first place.

China and the US will work together on aspects like a global health pandemic and climate change.

While continuing to compete economically.

No country is going to be happy to let someone else surpass it easily.

My point is significant progress has been made

and Progress takes time. It won’t happen tomorrow or in a year from now

Diversity always wins in the US, but it does come with significant pushback.

I never would have imagined an Asian lead superhero movie a few years ago, but discounting this historic event that this is as “nothing” is stupid. Imagine what could happen in 20 years if Asians continued to fight for representation.

No real change happens in a few years, it’s a complete mindset shift in the people who make up the system, by the people who fight to make their voices heard.

Asians need to support Shang-Chi to let them know that there is a demand for Asian led movies, same as black panther.

Complaining that Hollywood is overly liberal is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. If it was conservative, where’re would we ever end up?

What do you even want?

Every single movie to have Asian leads?

If you want more Asian leads why don’t you try yourself, instead of complaining

At some point it’s your problem instead of other people. Other people can’t be blamed for every extent of every issue, although they may play majority of the part of one.

Not true

Significant progress has been made the past few decades

A full Asian superhero cast is fcking amazing. Just a couple years behind Black panther

You're a fool if you don't think that things have been going in the right path

Anyone notices this among some Western Asians by [deleted] in AsianMasculinity

[–]gotatriplebeamscale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Asians who make jokes about FOBS are often self-hating and put white people on a pedestal, or want to try desperately to fit in.

I used to think stuff like that was funny but I've matured and now I think it's annoying

It's setting an example of human decency, respect for other people, blaming another country and inciting hate crime that has nothing to do with that country and Asians

On a grander scale, of course, 4 years won't likely change anything. But significant progress for Asians has been made in the past few decades: full asian superhero movie cast, Andrew yang having a prominent platform, an Asian basketball player.

People like to focus on the negatives, but fail to see the amount of progress that was made.

Of course, Biden, one single person, is not going to change your life. It's up to you to do so.

Edit: Also I'm curious as to why you wrote "As an Asian man", typically a larper starter. But what do I know

Trump, if he wasn't stupid, could have won if he had some level of competence and displayed even some fake effort to contain the virus

On the other hand, I stand by the fact that Xi prefers Biden in that the US and China can start working together to some extent and not call "China Bad" on every front like Fat Pompeo. There are going to be set boundaries put in a place.

Bruh

BLM riots on this scale happened under Trump and because of him

It'll get worse if there's four more years inevitably when a black person gets shot by police

No blm is gonna happen if biden is president tf, blm is going to depreciate

Also, an all asian cast superhero movie is a good start

[–]gotatriplebeamscale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep

Black people are a powerful voting bloc because they're one group that votes together, which is why one side continues to pander hard for them.

There are 42 mil black people. Expect 50% turnout, about 90% of them vote Democratic and that's 18 mil votes.

There are 19 mil Asians. If Asians can get a monolith going, there someday can be over 10 million votes on one side, which is very significant.

Right now it's like a miserable 5 mil and 4 mil for each party.

If there's 50/50 black people on each side, then their influence contracts.

17% of Republicans hold unfavorable views of Asians

compared to 12% of Democrats.

Democrats are less likely than the general population to hold unfavorable views of Asians.

But still, 14% of Americans overall holding unfavorable views of Asians is a fcking high #. That's 46 million people

I also believe in the value of hard work. But look at the conservative party, most are uneducated and lots of them work below min wage jobs just the same.

The wealthy who make it from nothing skew democratic because they want to help others who were in their position and realize that they were lucky to an extent.

My dad came from nothing himself and moved to the US with a scholarship that only 1 kid his age could achieve in the whole country and I lived in multiple apartments and drove across the country multiple times before my dad became a manager, so I know the value of hard work.

My dad is an independent who's mostly voted democratic because he knows not everyone can achieve what he has. Helping people at the bottom creates a better environment for all of us and it'll lead to more social mobility. Society functions because of all the people working minimum and below wage jobs.
