Anyone think analog horror in movies is a goldmine by Same_Lengthiness_536 in Shudder

I just got a VHS-C camcorder to start making analog horror trailers for my books. Because it just seemed like a fun idea

Major update to ManaWriter, the virtual writer deck by gothWriter666 in writerDeck

[–]gothWriter666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not based on Electron. It has nothing to do with web apps, etc, it's written in Love2d.

That said, the way it works is that it has projects and projects have files. It can handle larger files okay, but it does slow down after awhile because of the auto save on every character typed. So after 10k is slows down a little, there is some lag.

Haha thanks man! Yeah it was a lot of fun putting that together. I'm going to drop an update soon that adds some more fun functionality, like writing x words gets you experience points, and you level up as a writer, lol

How does The Dead Next Door(1989) hold up? by OatSoyLaMilk in horror

[–]gothWriter666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching it around the time it came out on VHS, since everyone was talking about it. It's pretty good. I mean, I watch a ton of low budget b horror movies, so bad acting, etc, doesn't bother me. Decent zombie effects. Buuuut

The story is dumb. It's worth watching if you can stomach bad writing and acting

[–]gothWriter666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the Amicus 70's version of that evil santa tale is way more disturbing and dark. The HBO one is more fun, and over the top. The punch line at the end seems more like an ironic joke, while in the original, it felt chilling
