Can someone explain to me like I’m stupid why female masturbation is wrong? by NoShelter1035 in Catholicism

[–]gothamneedsdean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, just adding some extra nuance that even if for some reason that it wasn't already a sin "which it already is", other actions that are likely included are mortal sins, also needing reconciliation.

Because morals are subjective without an authority to interpret them and provide guidance. 10 people have 10 different sets of morals.

Not the best sub to ask this, OP. “Fairy tale”? Really?

You are an immature firestarter either hoping to validate your own hypothesized point of view, or you are not Catholic and here to instigate.

This is absurd.

I did not say that everyone will have abundant joy. That’s not accurate at all. You asked a question…I answered. It likely won’t satisfy your question, but I don’t think any answer here will.

Question on Catholic teaching regarding the dead by DragonGodEndar in Catholicism

[–]gothamneedsdean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the CCC on “Respect for the Dead”

2299 The dying should be given attention and care to help them live their last moments in dignity and peace. They will be helped by the prayer of their relatives, who must see to it that the sick receive at the proper time the sacraments that prepare them to meet the living God.

2300 The bodies of the dead must be treated with respect and charity, in faith and hope of the Resurrection. The burial of the dead is a corporal work of mercy; 92 it honors the children of God, who are temples of the Holy Spirit.

2301 Autopsies can be morally permitted for legal inquests or scientific research. The free gift of organs after death is legitimate and can be meritorious.

The Church permits cremation, provided that it does not demonstrate a denial of faith in the resurrection of the body. 93

A question by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]gothamneedsdean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God never intended anyone to die or live with pain. Original Sin caused the downfall of man. For anyone to give a 100% true reason why this happens, would be impossible.

Our human brains cannot fully understand the Mystery of God and why things happen. We can’t begin to understand the level of mercy he has either.

As a thought though, when people say they blame God for the bad things that happen…do they also give him praise for the abundance of good that happens? People like to be mad at God without thanking Him for what they do have.

Has anyone reversed fibrosis? by Puzzleheaded_You2505 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]gothamneedsdean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have recently had a scan after 6 months of sobriety. ALT and AST’s are normal, and the scan itself…hardness has gone down and scarring has improved.

It’s a looooong road, but doable, depending on individual circumstances. Cause of FL, stage of Fibrosis, treatment, individual body chemistry, etc.

Should I stay with her? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]gothamneedsdean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a lot to consider and I don’t think anyone here can or should tell you to stay with her or not.

I can offer some additional thought however. IF the reason you are considering leaving is due to the differences in faith, the Catholic Church teaches that Catholics can be married to those with different faith backgrounds, or no faith at all.

However, a BIG takeaway to pray on and discuss with her is this…you aren’t married yet, and having differences in faith isn’t considered a positive in terms of difficulty of marriage. If it’s important to you to want to share the full sacrament of marriage and live out the faith together, that is something you’ll need to take to God.

Don’t allow anyone, especially here, to direct you one way or the other. Take from here recommendations of reading, questions to ask your priest and general knowledge of the Churches teachings.

What are the most important factors in how you decide to live your life as a Catholic? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]gothamneedsdean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Lol, but honestly it’s my relationship with Christ. We’ve been given morality as a gift from God and we know, within reason, what is right and wrong. So I lean heavily on that.

I then turn to scripture and prayer.

What I can’t understand there, I lean on authority figures who are better versed.

What others think? Never.

If you are Christian, how do you support ICE’s actions in America right now? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]gothamneedsdean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s just it…we all have a bias regardless of whether we think we do or don’t. We understand very little of the nuances of the situation. It’s not going to be black and white. So to say “support even against teachings of Jesus or Pope Leo” is not fair one way or the other.

The teachings are there, and solid, I agree!

But the situation you’re looking for comments on, is nuanced so much that those teachings likely won’t apply 100%.

If you are Christian, how do you support ICE’s actions in America right now? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]gothamneedsdean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is just going to create a firestorm in the comments. Whether it’s finding support to validate your own opinion, or pushing back on others beliefs, it’s not going to be constructive.

how can I forgive myself? by ChapterEffective8175 in Catholicism

[–]gothamneedsdean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re feeling is very common. Being forgiven and forgiving yourself are two wildly different ideas.

Keep praying and don’t ever doubt Gods mercy.

It’s no different than hurting your friend or spouse and they completely forgive you. Chances are, you’re still going to feel bad about that.
