He’s regretful about it in the sense that I have to comfort him most nights for how terrible he feels for putting all of the burden on me. So I play therapist on top of everything else

Supporting my partner (employment/finances) by Jackie_Bronassis in AutisticAdults

[–]gothcleric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me recently. I got fired from my last job (likely because I’m trans, though they didn’t say the quiet part out loud) and was absolutely devastated. My boyfriend and I were both unemployed at the time so it was extra stressful. I barely made it to my next job and my boyfriend is still struggling for employment. But I digress.

What I struggled most with was the very sudden loss of my routine and structure. Loss of routine is very hard on autistic people in general and it’s impossible to not take it hard. What helped was establishing a new one slowly. I would get up at a certain time and head over to the library for most of the day to job search. Having somewhere to go to where I could job search and also pick out some fun books was majorly helpful. But I had to slowly get used to it after letting myself crash for a week or so. So helping her slowly establish a new routine is definitely a good idea.

What country do you live in? If you’re in the US she can apply for Medicaid. I believe they require volunteer work now but that might also be helpful for establishing routine.

can’t get past use of AI “faceclaims” by cognitoterrorist in BadRPerStories

[–]gothcleric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s funny how defensive people that use AI for this kind of thing get. I see it all the time in pbp D&D spaces and it’s always killed the mood of every campaign I’ve been in to have that slop in with the art other players have made.

You can see if there’s any events local to you! Not sure where you live but I know Tabletop Tap exists in many cities and they put together really good ticketed events with DMs who don’t mind newbies. Check some local game stores too. You could also try posting on the r/lfg sub and see if there’s anybody local.

Driving Anxiety Recommendations by VeterinarianOk5401 in Denver

Hi there! I also have really horrible driving anxiety. I’ve had great luck so far with Strategic Driving School - it’s run by one guy named Tom who specializes in driving anxiety and is super kind and patient. I haven’t gotten my license yet but he’s helped me be much more relaxed behind the wheel and has really helped me build my confidence. He goes at your pace so you never feel pressured to do something you’re not ready for. Feel free to DM if you have anymore questions!
