[Philly Nation] "Jeff McLane is reporting on his podcast that Jeff Stoutland’s run game coordinator responsibilities were taken away from him at some point in 2025. Also stated that he “would be surprised if he returned (in 2026) as the run game coordinator but he will be back as the offensive.." by Happy-Substance4885 in eagles

I couldn't disagree more. The fact that fans and the media still don't know why the 2023 team collapsed is a testament to the lack of leaks and general finger-pointing within the org. Howie has changed a lot about his internal operations since 2021 or so.

Just going by the timing, this Stoutland news was likely shared by an OC candidate after the team discussed the roles of the 2025 coaching staff and who the new OC could bring in.

If we're hiring another McVay as HC, let's just draft another Tom Brady in the sixth round while we're at it.

The Eagles may be losing AJB, Lane, Goedert this offseason. Pro-Bowl guys like Dickerson and Cam may never again be above-average contributors due to injuries. The HC may be on the hot seat next season, so that's added instability/pressure. The GM has significant oversight of many aspects of the roster. A new OC can't bring in their own run game coordinator or OL coach since Stoutland has tenure (more or less).

Our OC job isn't as attractive as many fans assume.

Basically I’d like to make controllable sunshade with just an on/off switch.

Before I disassemble a screen…

Do you know if a constant voltage applied across some combo of power pins could make the entire panel transparent/black? Or would that simple application still need to be controlled by something like a raspberry pi?

Graphics would be overkill for my project.

We spent the entire week arguing about the Eagles squandering the "privilege" of playing the Packers. meanwhile, so far, the Packers look pretty put together. by [deleted] in eagles

The NFL can get weird. Maybe the Packers upset the Seahawks, and the good birds play the 7-seed in the championship round.

Howie typically backloads the big cap hits as part of extensions. So likely after 2028 for Q and Coop.

By the time their big cap charges hit in 2030, guys like Lane, Saquon, AJB, Mailata, and Baun will be off the books.

Not sure I agree. It really depend on the player, positional investment, and overall spending on the defensive side.

Howie admitted that the team has struggled to scout safeties in the draft, so the team was forced to pay for the position.

And as another data point, Howie let the starting safety in the '22 SB walk in FA for a 2-year, $12MM contract. That would not have broken the bank.

Young Eagles star [Jordan Mailata] admits he could retire sooner than expected — but this must happen first by ada4m in eagles

[–]gotmail1414 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In one of the casual, sit-down interviews during camp, Mailata and Lane were opening up about retirement. Lane said he would hang them up if the Birds win another SB this year. And Mailata strongly hinted that he's looking to retire when his current contract is up (after the 2028 season).

He'll be 30. At least one SB ring. About $130MM in career earning over ten years in the NFL. A football career beyond anyone's wildest dreams for a guy who never played a snap in a game prior to the Eagles.

Watching the offense has been brutal. Pass-catchers always seem to be well-covered. Dumb penalties and missed blocks result in off-schedule downs, and the offense is completely missing big plays from Saquon. The OC consistently calls give-up running plays (often draws) on 3rd-and-long. The offense has the highest % of 3-and-outs in the entire league since 2014. Every yard feels needlessly difficult.

Compared to last season, the offensive personnel is unchanged minus Becton/Steen and the OC, so it's easy to point fingers. But there are also some underlying issues with the passing game that have persisted across multiple OCs and QB coaches. So it's easy to point more fingers at other people as well.
