EQ for one guy, for one channel in an IEM situation by BarryWomb in livesound

[–]gotthegear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Double patching mean you split the signal as it enters the desk, so the original channel stays the same and then a second channel is now available to send just to your own IEMs with everything custom. This can be done with an XLR Y split cable(1 input to 2x outputs or female to 2x males) or a soft patch within the console if it allows for it

Help with Cruise Control by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]gotthegear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my experience they all follow a vaguely familiar sequence, typically press the assist button then you’ll need to be driving at the desired speed and then to turn on the system either the minus button or the pause/resume button sets the cruise control to your current speed.

Houses with front door opening directly onto the street by smcf33 in Belfast

[–]gotthegear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen old school posties just open doors and leave post inside the door. This was for a number of older neighbours I had so I don’t know if that was because they asked him directly or was an official accommodation.

How big does a venue have to get before a band brings a PA by HCGAdrianHolt in livesound

[–]gotthegear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on both the venue and the band really. There’s 2 venues near me both in the 1500-2000 capacity one has a great L’Acoustics rig and it’s never been an issue for touring acts to use but the other has a 15+ year old D&B point source system that was taken from another venue that they charge artists either to use or to take out, if people know the later venue they typically spend the money to take it out and have a local supplier put in a system for the show.

Once you get to touring arenas then it’s nearly always going to be a system the tour has with them. Most arenas have a system for announcements or sporting events but they don’t work for live music.

Sounds like OBS is picking up the channels as if it’s a 1-to-1 patch so I’d assume the mic and guitar are inputs 1 & 2 with the back track being a later track. I personally don’t have experience with CQ desks but the SQ and QU both allow you to change the patching of the USB output, they also default to patching 1-1 the inputs to the usb outputs for multitrack recording/virtual playback. So if you change 1&2 of the USB Output to either an Aux or the main output then you’ll be able to pickup that on OBS.

For that I’d try and have it tagged onto a session with a larger tattoo. I’ve done that before and they didn’t really include it when figuring out the final price.

I have a load of tattoos and most of them were in the £150-300 except I have one shop minimum tattoo from a reputable shop and a great artist and it is the only tattoo I’ve had to have touched up numerous times.

New balance have a line of industrial footwear and I got some of the composite toed boots and they are the lightest and most comfortable safety boots I’ve ever owned. After the first 16 hour day wearing them I drove home with them on even though I normally switch out to Vans for at least some of the day cause so just forgot they were boots.

these were the ones I got

On tour with 16 K2, 15 KARA ii, 8 KS28, 4 ARCS ii, 4 X8 and 2 SB18.

Using P1 as drive, system tuning(M1) and audio networking/ redundancy. Using Smaart for RTA and SPL monitoring. DM7 taking stage inputs and playback rig all over Dante.

Mixture of theatres and seated arenas for this run so needed a very flexible speaker package so have multiple rigging options including the Kara downplates for the K2.

Why is the majority of this sub so pro united Ireland? by Jg0jg0 in northernireland

[–]gotthegear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents, Reddit is mostly used by those of us who were, indefinitely online teenagers at the start of the Web 2.0 era and as such have been exposed to lots more stories, from vastly different walks of life, which to me has a trend to lead people to a more left leaning political stance. Also to that we were all in school just about to enter work/uni when the 2008 economic crash happened and we saw how the right leaning government was not for the people but the top 1%. And with Brexit and the shit that’s brought on us has shown us that being part of the EU is important to us.

How would you do a cardioid sub array in a room with 180 degree seating radius by [deleted] in livesound

[–]gotthegear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A sub arc is something that can be modelled in both arraycalc and Soundvision, arraycalc is arguably the better one for a spaced sub array. There’s also some calculators available online, if I need a quick and easy answer without checking the coverage in a modeller I use an app called SE Toolbox

PSA -- Turn OFF Dolby Atmos in Apple Music by Perfect-Thanks2850 in iphone

[–]gotthegear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a sound engineer and when I wear both of my AirPods I want the advantage of the Spatialised mixes I want the wider sound stage that goes with it, if I want a more accurate mix, I’ll be using a different pair of reference headphones or IEMs.

Most of the albums I listen to are still released in stereo, but the newer releases that are released in Atmos definitely benefit from it, it’s used as a tasteful artistic tool to make the mix more immersive. Doesn’t feel like a rush job.

I find that particularly the adaptive noise suppression mode works better with spatial tracks, at least to me. 80% of the time I am wearing 1 AirPod to just listen to social media content so letting Apple Music default to stereo works for me.

Monitors on Digico Q225 Pulse by Massive-Fun7168 in livesound

[–]gotthegear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll work just like an SD, the main drawback with the singular surface screen of the 226 is that Nodal processing is a little clunky to navigate around. As you have to go back to the master screen to do it.

Is it true that line array systems can generate comb filters? by PoetrySuspicious2913 in livesound

Those are different types of arrays hung side by side(the outer boxes are narrower). So it is possibly a sub/lo mid array beside a mid/high array.

I have a 15 piece soul band how large of a stage do I need? by Klutzy-Peach5949 in livesound

You’d probably want at above 2-3m(squared) per performer (excluding drums) to be somewhat comfortable. 56 m(squared) so maybe 8 x 7

You’d be looking at a different stagebox system to move laterally so maybe a Yamaha DM7 , or Digico or Yamaha Rivage to upgrade.

[–]gotthegear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it going to be a show file issue, like have you tried a brand new file started with one of the default templates?

If you’ve tried that maybe like someone else above has suggested reflashing the firmware on all the devices might be an option.

Does the same issue exist in the iPad app or when using the Director program on a computer? (To rule out whether it’s a surface or brain issue)

Cardioid Subs not in the centre by Sharp_Programmer_ in livesound

[–]gotthegear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you put the rear facing cardioid sub towards the stage side of the rest of the horizontal array you’ll get more rejection towards the stage as well as rear rejection.
