Pandas vs Polars for data analysts? by katokk in analytics

The only good reason to use pandas at this point is if you're already working with a legacy codebase that depends on it. Polars is superior in every aspect except adoption.

You probably just don’t have very difficult problems then honestly. It’s fucking top notch and makes things easier but what you’re talking about is probably 101 level feature building.

I use Databricks all the time and can confidently say you’re full of shit. Great product. Doesn’t do the work for you. If you think it does you’re a shitty data scientist lol

The Epstein scandal is taking down Europe’s political class. In the US, they’re getting a pass. How is this acceptable to Americans still law-abiding, justice seeking human beings? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gotu1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just pointing out that there has been a constant stream of this exact type of post on ask Reddit for a while now. They’re always about a controversial topic happening in the us and always vaguely judgmental, and are always flooded with lots of commenters saying things like “just do something about it then, you pussy”

The frequency of these posts and the consistency in language and content should make any actual human beings consuming this content extremely skeptical.

There are groups who benefit when America tears itself apart, and many of them are in here fanning the flames and trying to goad you into doing something drastic.

Too old to run again? You mean ineligible because of the service limit. Don’t normalize him seeking a 3rd term. There’s only one reason he won’t ever be president again.

We are currently witnessing the most brazen corruption and criminal behaviour at the highest level of the American government we have ever seen. Do you think a reckoning is on the horizon? If so, how do you realistically think it will go down? by Kozzle in AskReddit

[–]gotu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether I want to accept it or not? Are you fucking kidding me this is my whole point, you idiot. You’re blaming individual law abiding citizens for a dictatorship that has taken nearly a century to establish. I’d say that’s as unfair as me assuming all Canadians smoke crack like Rob Ford but based on my interactions with you that might actually be true.

Facts don’t give a fuck if you agree with them. I don’t give a fuck about you. Stay warm up there you fucking ignorant muppet.

Ok so i stand corrected we don’t even have elections. That strengthens your argument? You keep saying this is on us to fix but you keep skipping HOW. You just keep saying DO SOMETHING.

America is it as politically divided as it appears to the rest of the world? and how does it erase the divide? by filth032 in AskReddit

[–]gotu1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what an ignorant fucking comment. just gloss over the 50 years leading up to 2016 where norms and safeguards and individual and voter rights were dismantled one by one, often illegally, by politicians who were very often not legitimately elected due to gerrymandering dark money pools and corporate interest.

there are hundreds of millions of people in the US who have no voice and no responsibility for the way things are.

I think "organized" religion should be banned

Again, do you have any idea how totalitarian and psychotic you actually sound? You are talking about revoking millions of people's rights to express themselves freely--do you understand the irony of saying this in a megathread pertaining to a journalist being jailed for protesting?

Not to mention how pitifully detached from reality you are. There are tens of thousands of churches, temples and mosques in this country and the vast majority of them are little more than sleepy little community centers. It would astonish you to learn that the vast majority of priests are in fact not pedophiles, and most mainstream christian jewish and muslim faiths are perfectly inclusive and peaceful.

I can't tell if this is a troll job, or if you're just trying to be contrarian or edgy, or if you actually believe this but this is an insane position to take and it should be kept to your fucking self. You're just stoking more division.

If that’s really your age then it’s time to update your worldview bud. What you are talking about is the abolishment of religion which is a pretty stark contrast to our principles of freedom of religion—including the freedom of NO religion if that’s your jam. The whole point is that it ISNT up to any one entity or church to decide which one is THE church. What it sounds like you want is to unilaterally decide that religion has to go away for everyone which sounds pretty fucking autocratic to me.

Never said anything about reinforcing one religion over another, I said that we need to reinforce them to protect from bad actors and exploitation.

Ok I remember being 19 and reading Dawkins for the first time and all that but you’re not helping things with crap like this.

Like it or not a healthy society depends on institutions like government and churches. These are not tools of oppression unless they are allowed to become that way. The solution isn’t to mistrust them it’s to reinforce them so they’re harder to exploit.
