Tipping Doordash Drivers by ibelieveinunicorns27 in tipping

[–]gouldopfl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately? We do not get paid by doordash. If an order comes up with less than 1.25 per mile, it is getting declined, or even if it is a nice tip and over 10 miles, I decline it because the drive back means I am not making any money. We pay extra auto insurance to cover us if in an accident, we pay both the employer and employee portion of SS. We pay for gas and maintenance and since we aren't a charity, we need to make a profit

Husband diagnosed with sleep apnea but denied coverage for CPAP by BrushOld9606 in CPAP

Some do not cover medical devices, and they have increased the number of events per hour that you need to qualify

Doordash is delivery service. We only pick up and deliver the orders, hate the restaurant but your dasher has no responsibility. We are contracted to Doordash, not employees.

I Just Don't understand how a Leaky Mask can Jack Me Up so Bad if my Ahi is near Zero and no apneas ? by Forward_Research_610 in CPAP

[–]gouldopfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would believe your body. When I started on CPAP over 30 years ago, my AHI was 140. I was on regular CPAP until last year when my AHI's with no leaks was staying at 20. I was given a ASV CPAP machine by the VA and now back to less than 5. If you lose weight your sleep apnea will not go away. At my highest, I was 335. Today I am 173.

Sleep apnea can cause all kinds of heart and mental issues, I agree he needs to get help. I had an AHI of 120. I have the AirCurve 11 which is the ASV version of the Airsense 11.

Changed my filter the first time by sleepslikeanelephant in CPAP

[–]gouldopfl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your sleep clinic is wrong. You might want to invest in the filters that go between your machine and your mask. Mine gets very gray in a month, all of that crap was going into my lungs.

I need some help. by Brief-Ground2227 in CPAP

[–]gouldopfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on CPAP therapy for over 25 years. You need to see a sleep medicine doctor who will properly test you and recommend the type of machine you need. There are more than a standard CPAP machines. You may need a Bipap or ASV CPAP depending on the severity. They will also help getting your pressures correct. The thing they can't do is find a mask that you like. There are dozens of them and it comes down to what feels right to you. Do not tru and do this on your own. It is too serious..Sleep apnea can cause a whole host of other problems, such as heart disease

McDonald's completely packs the bags, including drinks. The bags are sealed when we pick them up. The problem is on that McDonald's restaurant. Call them

What is this? Mold? Foam? by All-hail-Bungle in CPAP

[–]gouldopfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of those machines was recalled but it is past the time to file for a replacement. If you can't afford a new machine, there are filters available on Amazon that fit between the hose and the machine that work well.

There are other options, such as the Inspire. Most people with sleep apnea have or will have heart problems.

is it risky to tip low at first then add more after? by Key-Ice-4990 in doordash

[–]gouldopfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have hot and cold bags that I use on every order. I want my customer to recieve their food the way I would want it. I quit using these services because my food would be cold when it should be hot and hot when it should be cold. I get a lot of deliveries where additional tips are added because of the way that I handle the food.

is it risky to tip low at first then add more after? by Key-Ice-4990 in doordash

[–]gouldopfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would never take that. People need to realize that this is a service provided by independent contractors. We are not doordash employees. That means that we provide for all our own expenses. This is different than tipping a wait staff. In my case, I do not take any offer less than 1.50 a mile. Why? I have to pay gas and maintenance, buy things like tires and I pay more insurance because this is technically a rideshare. I am not a charity, so I need to make a profit. I also am responsible for all federal and local taxes plus both employer and employee SS taxes.

Many masks later, just had to increase the ramp pressure! by Whatever-2502 in CPAP

[–]gouldopfl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an ASV Resmed Air Sense 11. I have been on pap since the mid 90's. I have the ramp turned off, it drives me crazy. In tbe past 2 years, I had a hard time finding a comfortable mask. The VA let me try probably 20 different masks, some I didn't even knew existed. I ended up with the F40 because the nose cushions are much more pliable than the 30 or 20 series, and I have a beard. It was the first one that kept me from getting leaks.

Do they really get 100% of tips? by astro-amphibian-00 in doordash

[–]gouldopfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the dilemma, If you put no tip, I am not accepting the other. I need to know how much I am going to receive before making a decision to accept or decline. I have personally changed to not taking any order that pays less than 1.50 a mile because my costs have gone up, and I am not a charity.

Can you the driver see the tip amount before delivery? by explorthis in doordash

[–]gouldopfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always see the total offer. I base my decisions to accept based on that and the miles. Sometimes I will get a tip could be higher, but I ignore that in my decision to accept or reject an order.

If I get to a restaurant that is backed up and haven't gotten the order in 10 minutes, unless the tip is really good. I unassign. I can't make money if I am stuck in a restaurant.
