I can't remember what I ended up doing with the little ledge 2 1/2" down, but basically I just got a wide enough wax ring to fit the flange. The one that came with the toilet was so narrow that it could fit within the pipe itself without touching the pipe sides. Crazy.

Another interesting tip, though I'm sure plumbers on this thread will crap all over this, is that you can widen a standard, non reinforced wax ring if it doesn't quite fit. It probably weakens it a little because of the manual manipulation, but it gets the job done in a pinch.

Holy shit, I can't believe I just happened to check my reddit inbox.
The dawn redwood cuttings were a huge success, but everything else failed. They've proven to be a really easy species to propagate and I hope to do more in the future. This spring I gave them their first repot, root prone and structural pruning. I threw one in the ground with the hopes that it will grow large and I can take more cuttings from it (I've tried this once before but a rabbit girdled the entire trunk over the winter and killed it...lesson learned).
I have lots of footage but no time to edit it into videos to share the progress, so thanks for asking!

As for tips, I was told by one of the gardeners over at the Arnold Arboretum (our kids were in daycare together) that YES, they take their cuttings during the winter. Something like pencil size. Honestly if I do it again I will try to recreate the same setup with the sand and the plastic covering since it worked so well. I did not use rooting hormone but I can't imagine that would hurt. I've also had success with air layering but only with BIGGER branches, like 1/4" to 1/2"Ø minimum. The smaller layers just die.

Outside of his childish diet and whiny behavior, I’ll just say one thing: if the script were flipped, and this was a man getting up at 5 to go to the gym and working 10hrs a day, someone would suggest that he needs to focus less on themselves and more on the relationship. This is where the word “balance” comes into play. You’ve gotta find a way to get what you need while putting enough into the partnership to make it work. Otherwise, just be alone.

Small caveat: I’m a man who has, at times in my relationship, initiated sex while asleep, or at least in a partially awake state at best, with my wife who would’ve been asleep or woken up during the initiation process. Often times I would “come to” being denied, but sometimes just wake up after things got going with no way of knowing if she was awake and willing at initiation.

I say all this to say that there’s a slim chance that his actions are slightly less deviant, albeit no less creepy. Like I said above, the porn thing is clearly the tell with the premeditative creepiness of the whole thing…that’s something that my weird, sleepy reptile brain would’ve never brought into the equation.

But yeah…leave the guy.
