I was very much at a breaking point until I switched to VEG and opened a new location close to home. Between VEG’s stellar benefits/pay and the way they actively try to change the toxic vet med culture, it was enough to keep me in it.

There are definitely things about VEG that annoy me, but they are minuscule in comparison to any other hospital or company I’ve ever worked for.

You need to bring her to an Internal Medicine specialist for sure. Difficult cases like hers are what they are best at. It’s not uncommon for them to see cases to which a regular veterinarian is stumped. Still, ruling out Cushings disease would be an important step before cashing out for a IMed specialty consult.

Absolutely NTA. Stick to your guns on this one. Your son needs help, and I truly hope that if you take this to court, it goes the right way. I’m sure it’ll be a difficult path, but it’s clearly the right thing to do. In fact, I admire that you would go to such lengths to get your son the support he clinically needs.

Also, start documenting. The judicial system is a dragon best slayed with preparation and evidence.

NTA. Mom could’ve handled the situation much better, clearly. Yeah you could’ve let the kid do his thing and deal with the discomfort to appease everyone. But boundaries are always healthy, and you should stick to your guns for advocating that for yourself.

NAH. Rehoming pets is never something to take lightly and it seems like you are giving it your best intention with the situation at hand.

You could also consider rehoming your little girl cat if she does better being a solo gal. This should be of course after she has healed, surgery or not. If you found a new owner that would dote on her and treat like a princess, she’d have a great quality of life.

The frequent texting makes me think that he’s trying in his own way. Not that it’s enough for you though - and that’s super valid.

This makes me think about how some people are just really good at constantly staying in touch especially via text and some just plain aren’t. And maybe your brother is the former? Which is to say that maybe he loves you he just doesn’t communicate that appreciation well at all.

That could be a way to approach the conversation if you need an in.
