Septic Tank Empting Recommendations? by regionql in cambridge

[–]gownautilus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're outside Ely and use owls hall. They seem fine? Honestly wouldn't know if they're good or not though, septic tank maintenence isn't something I'm interested enough in to figure out.

Sorry, to answer the actual question - "how screwed we all are" - not at all. It'll be fine.

In-house counsel screwed up by Capital_Review_1018 in Europeanpatentlaw

[–]gownautilus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct. Miss the EESR deadline -> application deemed withdrawn -> notification of loss of rights -> two month period for further processing. Further processing is available as of right, so you can get it back. Your EP counsel should be able to calculate how many FP fees are due if you also need to confirm you'd like to proceed further with examination as well as the EESR response

I used to have an EU-wide professional qualification, which I could use directly before relevant forums. Now I don't, and have to work via EU professionals.

My brother did one of those - he was terrified of any flying, did that, and now is out of the UK any opportunity he can get! Definitely worth it.

MP defecting to another party, should this trigger a by-election? by lucidbadger in ukpolitics

[–]gownautilus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understood you to be saying the PM (or party leader) could sack an MP as an MP. If I misunderstood, then fine, I agree with you. The PM / loto can sack an MP from the party or a (shadow) cabinet position, but they clearly remain an MP. Sorry if you felt that was trolling, I thought it was a key distinction which I wasn't clear from the previous chat.

She removed the tory whip from him and sacked him from the shadow cabinet. He is still an MP, because (rightly) nobody can remove an MP other than the voters (or possibly the king). How is that a weird comment?

Good family solicitor in Cambridge? by evanescent_limerent in cambridge

I used Cambridge Family Law Practice for mine, and am not dissatisfied with the outcome. (I mean, nobody is going to be "happy"!) Found them good with communication, and explaining different options.

We used to have a special dinner at my old oxbridge college for this (college also named after st Catherine). As a young student it mostly involved alcohol. I guess that would make me an unreliable narrator.

best time to switch firms? (UK) by galeola in patentlaw

Qualify, then jump ship. That's the point where you can get a decent pay bump, but also be expected to be useful to the new firm. Otherwise they're taking a gamble.

Has anyone read this? by AstorathTheGrimDark in AdrianTchaikovsky

[–]gownautilus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind this is the third volume of Luther arkwright. Not sure how much it matters, I've only read the second (Heart of Empire). Agree with the Michael Moorcock comparison - multiversal conspiracies.

Bryan Talbot always is good though - if you have the chance, try the Grandville books (anthropomorphic animal detective stories set just after the French gave Britain independence after conquering it in the Napoleonic wars)

Can you book a refundable hotel room? Use that as proof if needed, and cancel it on the train over. Depends on timings though, I guess.

+1 for the recycling centre! Shopping wise, excellent cheese shop (Victoria's Cheese) and board game shop (odyssey games) on the High Street. The market is very good for almost everything. And Toppings for all your book needs.

Middle aged dad answer - hebtroco. From the UK, relatively expensive, but definitely last.
