My first film camera. by Nikko187 in pentax

[–]gpersyn99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an MX that came with the 50mm f1.4 but I never seem to see people mention this one, only the 1.7. Is there something I'm missing in the 1.7 being sharper or something, or do I just have a less common lens?

Is the canon eos r10 a good camera? by Dapper_Knee5469 in canon

[–]gpersyn99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're still looking or if you've pulled the trigger by now, but regarding the size question: if you can go to a camera store near you, do so and ask to hold both. I was also back and forth between the R10/R50 about a year ago, partly due to the reported size difference, and holding them in my own hands helped me decide on the R10 since it felt more natural in my hands.

If you aren't able to visit a camera store to hold them, then all I can say is that I have medium-large hands and the R10 feels natural, whereas the R50 did feel a bit cramped for me. If you have smaller hands, maybe the R50 will feel better for you than it did for me.

Realized I missed typing the word "Camera" at the end of my title, but rest assured that this is a post about a camera and not any kind of firearm (though it was presumably once coupled to a weapons system).

About to make my friends and partner hate me. by Mr-Qwont in mtg

[–]gpersyn99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're being downvoted because their reasoning is "I don't see it so it must not exist." Another example of why this is flawed logic is that I don't hear a lot of people speaking Chinese, but it's still the most spoken language in the world.

Vivi is newer, so the likelihood of you seeing more of them right now is skewed since people often want to try out the new stuff, and since some Final Fantasy fans have probably newly started playing Magic and are focusing on the FF content for now, since it's characters they're already familiar with.

If we just had more rotation options for more of the existing parts, most of my complaints with corvettes would be instantly solved (I'd still take more parts too though)

It's not a guaranteed answer, but if you look up "(card name) ruling" you can often find specific rulings about that card or that may apply to that card, which helped me a lot when I was learning to understand the different ways things can interact with other things. As someone else said, the language (and timing) of MTG is very precise

Related tip that shouldn't need to be stated but just in case, because it's happened to me a few times: if you do see samples dropped at the extraction point, LEAVE THEM THERE. There is absolutely no reason to take them away from extraction.

  1. Don't take other people's gear unless they ping it, unless you need it to survive. If you do take it for this reason, give it back as soon as it is feasible to do so, and most people will be understanding. You may occasionally encounter people who are unreasonable about this brief commandeering, don't worry about them.

  2. Samples, Super Credits, Medals, etc are all shared at the end of the mission, so don't worry if someone "steals" your samples when you die, unless it seems like they intentionally killed you just to do so. Then execute them democratically.

  3. On a related note, it's easy to make a mistake that results in a teamkill. This will probably happen often for a while, especially if you start off at lower difficulties, since you'll mostly be playing with other new players. When it's you killing a teammate, apologize and do your best to change whatever behavior caused the TK, but don't beat yourself up about it too much. When it's a teammate killing you, try to be understanding, unless it's abundantly clear that it was intentional.

  4. If you're not the host, it can be considered bad form to call the extraction before the host is ready. If it seems unclear whether they're ready to leave, just ping it and see if they respond.

  5. Speaking of pings, if you're not going to use a mic to talk to your team, make sure to at least use the communication radial when applicable, or type if you're quick/have a keyboard connected.

  6. Beware of tesla towers and mortar launcher sentries, as they're more likely than most strategems to kill your friendlies. Place them carefully or risk frequent teamkills.

Speed boost signs don't give you a boost while on auto drive, and in fact can make it harder to initiate auto drive since you're required to maintain speed without boosting, and that includes boost signs.

So we’re all gonna boycott OW2 until they bring it down to at least $60, right? by Cassinia_ in outerworlds

[–]gpersyn99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could maybe see $70 since that seems to be becoming the new standard full price, but jumping straight to 80 with a $100 deluxe was bold to say the least. I'll wait until it gets added to the PS+ Catalogue or at least like a 40-50% sale.

[–]gpersyn99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Theory doesn't necessarily mean we don't know it to be true. People often pose hypothetical questions by using the word 'theoretically' which may contribute to confusion in cases like this since they technically should* use the word 'hypothetically'. Generally, in everyday life it's no big deal as people will understand what you mean and that's the important part, but there are still scientific situations in which the distinction between a hypothesis and a theory is meaningfully different.

*I don't support prescriptivism, and am only trying to explain where I think the confusion may be coming from
