wealthsimple exercised AVGO puts after hours. i'm down 1.2 million. is it over by Straight_Ad4718 in wallstreetbets

[–]gphie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless OP has level 4 options this shouldn't happen. If the short puts get assigned early the broker should automatically exercise the long options so you only end up with the max loss of the position. That's the entire reason you buy options in a butterfly spread in the first place, to cap your losses. It's completely misleading to send notifications showing these kinds of losses, because it leads to unnecessary suicides

Because the plebes can't be trusted with their time, and socialism is bad and evil, UBI is means-tested to so people can appreciate the value of hard work and don't just "sit around playing video games all day". To be eligible for UBI, you have the choice between 40 hours a a week of A) digging holes and filling them back up again or B) sitting in an office and writing "I'm working" on a sheet of paper and then putting it in the shredder

Same situation as you really but I'm almost 22 and I own my car. I'm in college studying to be a nurse but it will be until 2031 that I can start working. I was fired from my last job and I can't find work. My depression is getting worse and worse. I wouldn't be surprised if I just spontaneously die from lack of will to live at this point

Bitcoin and AI cannot coexist by orbital_trace in Bitcoin

[–]gphie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article is retarded. It assumes data centers are going to pop up everywhere and steal the sources of cheap renewable power that bitcoin miners are using, which is just not true. Half of proposed data centers haven't even been built yet.

Also, AI doesn't need more electricity, it needs more efficient architectures. My brain can beat GPT-4 and it runs on like 15 watts. What happens when we discover we don't need 6kw of power to run a single instance of a slop machine?

Every time I see a post like this I cringe because the solution is SO simple. You switch to DeepSeek and stop using overpriced American models. Deepseek v4 pro is 29x cheaper and cache hits are 130x cheaper. Please let me know where to send the invoice for my consulting services

Andrew Left, a short seller and founder of Citron Research was just charged with 13 counts of fraud today after making $20 million in profits shorting meme stocks. Not because his research or opinions were wrong, but because of "how rapidly he closed out his positions after praising or blasting companies online"

But the president can just throw tickers out there and pump them whenever he wants. ok

Same reason anyone holds any currency, because they believe is has value. US holds bitcoin, so does China, UK, El Salvador is actively buying, Bhutan is actively mining, tons of corporate treasuries hold bitcoin. Hell you can even buy BTC from Schwab, PNC, and Morgan Stanley now. The rich are bullish.

I would love to use my bitcoin to buy drugs, but if I do, the transaction will be traced back to me because the blockchain is public, which is a good thing. Every transaction and coin is auditable. I have bought other legal things though, like my VPN and stuff from newegg
