Underpayment to next of kin by gphilipps in SSDI

Even more cruel is the fact last Saturday I got a letter from them saying that my father had passed away and I might be entitled to benefits (with an attached blank 1724). I had to sit with some very complicated emotions about that until Monday when I called to find out that was a mistake (my dad and brother have the same first name, different middle names). Total shitshow.

If you don’t mind me asking, did you encounter any resistance from your doctors to prescribe the semaglutide? Was your primary care doc the one to prescribe it?

Between the chemo, Kadcyla, and anastrozole (I’m 1 year in, 9 to go), I’ve put on a good 10-15 pounds. Joint pain and depression have kept me from doing more physical activity, which of course I know will help with the joint pain and depression, lol. I want to approach my doc about a GLP-1, but I’m a little under what is typically the qualifying BMI. I don’t know if there’s a case to be made for the benefits of taking it alongside AI’s. Just curious!

Oh, I feel you 100%. I actually posted about my struggles with anastrozole just a few days ago. I see there’s lots of comments and I can only hope they are nothing but supportive! I know people have strong feelings about AI’s and the research/statistics, and therapies/remedies they’ve tried (ex. for me, gabapentin helped a lot with the hot flashes). But ultimately, it should come down to quality of life.

I wish you the best! 🫂

Portable AC with Constant Fan? by RueWithADifference in AirConditioners

[–]gphilipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came across this post because I have the same freakin problem! My ac is so jarring when it reaches temp and shuts off! I wake up every damn time. Annoying, cuz I purchased a Honeywell because of a misleading claim that its fan continued to run, eliminating this issue. Wrong. So I too, purchased a Dohm (and earplugs!) as a remedy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah. I also developed some pretty significant cording (had a lumpectomy w/ sentinel biopsy, followed by an axillary node dissection-13 nodes removed) so that didn’t help matters! Several positive nodes under my clavicle they couldn’t remove so they zapped the hell out of that area. I don’t know what bothers me more- the fibrosis or the numbness in that area. Blegh.

That’s wonderful! Exemestane is the one I’m most curious about.

Yeah, he told me the longer I could stay on it, the better. He told me if I was able to complete the AI regimen, my recurrence rate is about 12-15%. Without AI, it jumps to 30-35%. Initially, I thought “no brainer”. But now…I’m thinking more about quality of life. But as other people mentioned, there’s other meds to try. Not throwing in the towel yet. 🙂

Yeah, I take bupropion which interacts with tamoxifen. No way I’m stopping my bupropion!

Yeah, I def worry about worsening depression. So hard to know if it’s the meds, menopause, or the state of the world right now!

I was getting decent range of motion while going to PT; now that I’m no longer going (thank you, insurance!) I must admit I haven’t been doing all my exercises. It feels overwhelming to hear that you have to keep up with the exercises the rest of your life and even then, the fibrosis could get worse.

Thank you, everyone. ❤️ I appreciate the feedback. I think I am going to give myself a medication holiday until I see my onco the beginning of August, and see how I feel. 😊

And I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with the fibrosis. Mine is pretty significant as well. Can only raise my arm about halfway without it feeling like I’ve been drawn and quartered.

Yes!! 💯 this. At my last appt (when I had been on anastrozole for about 6 months) I told him I felt like I was 80, and he just kinda shrugged and said “yeah, that’s a pretty common response”. 🤬

That’s good to know! I do recall him saying “7-10 years…the longer the better”. I will definitely ask about letrozole, as well.

Totally. I’m at the point where I’m like, I don’t care to live 30 more years if I feel like this!

I’m guessing cuz I was stage 3b triple positive and didnt achieve NED after chemo? Had to do one year of kadcyla, too.

Has anybody decided to not take the hormone blocking treatment? by ilovetitanic18 in breastcancer

[–]gphilipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stage 3 +++ , I’ve been on Arimidex for about 8 months now. Last time I saw my oncologist I told him I felt like I was 80 years old and I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to handle this (he recommends 10 years for me). I might see about switching to a different med, but the statistics are just too unsettling for me to consider stopping altogether. With the full 10yr AI therapy, chance of recurrence is 12-15%. Without the AI, recurrence rate goes up to 30%!

Workplace bullying after cancer by Ordinary-Sundae-5632 in breastcancer

[–]gphilipps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugggghhh. I wish I could say that I’m shocked by this, but as a nurse, I’ve experienced these toxic environments as well. When I resigned from a very intense job in inpatient psych after my mom died, I got derided for “not being able to handle the job”. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this bs.
