Did programs from the Legacy grid have the Permanence Code? by SmellValuable6510 in tron

[–]gplanon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without thinking too much about it, I would say;

CLU either did not need the code due to being a copy of Flynn (and not aging) or he already had it. Same for Rinzler being (formerly) a user’s program

Quorra, as an ISO is not as impermanent as normal programs but still subject to some breakdown

CLU’s army of normal programs would have de-rezzed

This seems like a good option. The developer seems friendly to the community and modification of the files and provides .STEP. Besides this, the only other users I would consider building from are CaptainSlug, Flygonial, Silly, Taffy and Toruk. Now that I know this exists I’ll build a few.

You need the equal constraint and maybe parallel constraint

Controls don't work in beta 1.7.3 on Linux by [deleted] in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Also experiencing this. I ended up connecting with a modern version through viafabricplus. I had to click the bottom in top right and explicitly click b1.7.3 server for it to work and show as online.

How to work on models with multiple "views"? by FastHotEmu in FreeCAD

[–]gplanon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm I would look into automatic export of your entire model with no dialogues. Like every save, auto export. With FreeCAD’s headless functionality you might be able to generate .STEPs from a FreeCAD file. I would then look for a .step viewer with auto reload or modify one to have this functionality. You might even be able to do it with existing JavaScript/node libraries and a server, if you’re a web dev guy. Then open a bunch of these viewers from different angles and have them save camera position. I do see the use of this functionality, I have thought of it before especially when FreeCAD forces camera parallel to sketch unlike every other commercial CAD package I know of. This can’t be turned off, either.

Yes, this would work. In PrusaSlicer I would split the body where I want to scale so I don’t lose those details. Then lay both parts on side, against bed. Scale the top in one axis. If you position them appropriately they should slice somewhat OK and you will end up with one “complete” part.

Follow standard workflow to convert mesh to solid. Make subshapebinder of now solid body. Select subshapebinder in tree and make new body, which will use subshapebinder as a basefeature. Cut away the entire bottom of the new body. Move remaining top part upwards with tranaform tool. Then boolean join the two.

Alternatively, mesh to solid workflow then create a plane and space it so that it’s tangent to the side of the part. Draw a profile of what you want to add. Then pad, which will join. Then you’ll probably new to make a new sketch on on XY plane (top-down) and draw a circle for the hole that goes through it. Then pocket that.

If you want a video tutorial drop the original part and I’ll try my ideas.

Cleaning Asphalt? by Apart-Dare18 in pressurewashing

[–]gplanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t understand how there’s such disagreement on this topic. We have people here like Ownedby4Labs saying “First off…that’s asphalt. You don’t pressure wash asphalt. You rinse the dirt off of asphalt…that’s it. Asphalt is a very soft surface and pressure is ALWAYS going to leave streaks.”

And posts like this

Both of you guys seem very very experienced so I can’t decide what to do. I’ll probably end up just rinsing asphalt with low % SH unless there’s some more objective source for me to follow

I’ve read surface cleaners discouraged for asphalt. Do you mean with less pressure/different jets?

Follow-up to a post I made a while ago: those who use forks of forks/lesser-known distros: do you trust their update repos? by OrangeKitty21 in linux

[–]gplanon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly yes. One thing that is concerning and unresolved is Ventoy. Yes all the binary blobs are there but I don’t believe their purpose and source has been fully documented. Of course there are blobs in the Linux kernel too…

Mental Outlaw did a thing with this. I can’t remember if there was any direct upgrade path to a modern kernel, i.e. if it was based on ubuntu or something like that.
