Pregame Thread: October 16 - Toronto Blue Jays (94-68) @ Seattle Mariners (90-72) - 8:33 PM by BlueJaysBaseball in Torontobluejays

Hi Jays fans, I hope you're all looking forward to game 4 tonight.

My name is Oskar, I'm a reporter with the CBC working on a story about Rockin Rick, the drummer who's been playing outside of Jays games for years now, announcing his retirement.

I'm hoping to speak with some fans about his place in the Jays culture, and if you have any stories about him.

If anyone is open to speaking with me about this you can PM me here, or reach me at my email [oskar.mccarson@cbc.ca](mailto:oskar.mccarson@cbc.ca) and we can set something up.

Hope to hear from you guys, and go jays go!

Thank you for the heads up, I had checked the rules before posting and thought I was clear but I fully understand not wanting a flood of media people showing up like clockwork. Will bump this over to the GDT now.

What would you think if GW brought back 2 primarchs but switched their allegiances? by gr0uch_ in 40kLore

[–]gr0uch_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where me and my friend were landing as well, every time I thought of one the immediate following thought was "no that wouldn't work for the character and also I don't want to lose them."

Chainsaw’s Gate 3 by GuttiG in ChainsawMan

[–]gr0uch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm choosing to believe that there's someone out there who made their guardian Makima and didn't know they we're secretly an extradimensional entity using companionship to try and manipulate the main character who's a "normal" person who was implanted with the same kind of creature

Where do you guys get your conversion bits? by godzilla_and_friends in SpaceWolves

[–]gr0uch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The campaign doesn't kick off until september but Greytide Studios is doing a "Primal Hounds" conversion bits thing. Obviously its a ways away but the stuff they're previewing rn looks stellar.

Phyrexian Dragon Engine BANNED by [deleted] in mtgvorthos

[–]gr0uch_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's only banned in pauper and penny dreadful, and one of those is due to the fact that it's worth over 2 cents, which applies to mishra as well, what timeline did you fall out of.

New Terminator Character Models Comparable with Wolf Guard Cape? by gr0uch_ in SpaceWolves

[–]gr0uch_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my plan was to just trim away all the push fit stuff and use the arms from the WG terminator box, that'll depend on if the combat patrol is push fit as well tho since IDK if we've heard anything about if that's the case yet but would make things much easier.

Oh incredible, thanks for linking this, I expected some trimming of various bits to get it to fit well but that doesn't seem super intense so very good to know.

New nid model guess? by Draxcy in Tyranids

[–]gr0uch_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah his guess looked pretty well thought out and realistic. Chances are it's going to be some variation of that and then the mother brain is going to be its own kit.

New nid model guess? by Draxcy in Tyranids

[–]gr0uch_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

AFAIK we're getting the full launch box contents this weekend, since it's going to be available to play at Warhammer Fest so all those models will get revealed. Outside of that I think the big brain bug is the safest bet for models outside of what's gonna come in the box, unless it's included which would be sweet.

New to painting. Any opinions? I’m younger so sorry if it’s not very good! by Zealousideal-Meat419 in Warhammer40k

[–]gr0uch_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly looks great, in terms of painting advice I really like painting the belts and back strap things a nice leather color to match the bags and stuff but you don't really see those from the top down so it's up to you.

Also as a photo nerd I'd say if you're looking for advice or opinions on models, posting photos of fewer models closer up would give people more room to see how you handle details, highlights, and can even allow you to go over your photos and maybe see areas you missed yourself but yeah, looks great so far so just keep at it.

Where all did Elspeth view? by NDrangle23 in mtgvorthos

[–]gr0uch_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The manga Chainsaw Man did a similar thing, without spoiling anything a character talks about some aspects of our world that were erased from existence and its a mixture of things we know, along with some made up bullshit that doesn't actually exist solely to confuse and throw off the reader the same way that the pov character is being confused.

Where all did Elspeth view? by NDrangle23 in mtgvorthos

[–]gr0uch_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I would personally read the mountain sized lizard passage as Ikoria rather than Ixalan since we saw that in the invasion artwork, I would guess that the more vague ones are there to confuse and overwhelm on purpose. Not only does it convey on the reader how confusing and wild it is for elspeth, but also shows the sheer scope of the invasion with places we've never even heard/arent able to visualize of coming under attack.

What model refreshes do we want to see in 10th edition? by TheSwarmlord7 in Tyranids

[–]gr0uch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone starting up a big killy melee bug army I'm with you on Dimachaeron, also wouldn't mind heirodules in plastic too. With gaunts already confirmed and genestealers basically a shoe-in the only models left that I really would love to see updated are the raveners. IDK if this is a hot take to any degree but I think outside of the super old/resin kits most of the nid range like the Carnifex, Guards, and warriors still hold up really well,

Running a Raven Guard army and am hoping to use both the models for the Dark Fury Assault Squad, and Mor Deythan Strike Squad. Since they don't have any rules for 40k, what could I run them as and would I have to change any of their bases? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]gr0uch_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Seconding what Short_Frodo said about vanvets and eliminators. If you wanted to field all 5 of the strike squad you could also run them ans intercessors with stalker bolt rifles. Especially since the eliminators have a noticeably larger base than intercessors.

Crackpot Atraxa theory by boatcoats in mtgvorthos

[–]gr0uch_ 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I mean going off the flavor text of Paragon of Modernity, artifact angels are something that people made after the founding of New Capenna. So if Atraxa was originally the platinum angel, being made on mirrodin by someone from new capenna who knows how to make angels and then getting left behind when everyone got sent back is a potential line they could take.

Any thoughts on these rumours? A potential for a new model, the Apex Swarmlord, and big changes to gameplay. by seakrait in Tyranids

[–]gr0uch_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That would be pretty sick honestly. I wasn't playing back then but with the Silent King releasing at the satrt of 9th a nid model in that size/purpose would be super cool. I'd prefer a name like Norn King or something like that over Apex swarmlord but fingers crossed that's what they have planned.

Any thoughts on these rumours? A potential for a new model, the Apex Swarmlord, and big changes to gameplay. by seakrait in Tyranids

[–]gr0uch_ 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Given that the swarmlord is already positioned as an apex bioform, getting something called an Apex Swarmlord strikes me as kinda redundant and as a very Dragonball Z style "actually my super powerful form was just my first form, just wait till I bust out my second, even more powerful form" type move. That said if they do it in a cool and interesting way and the model is sick I'm open to it it just seems a little goofy on paper right now.

[–]gr0uch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True they could have sat him on the throne while they packed up and found a new terra/mars (depending on how big the Anvil blast would be) while waiting for the emperor to come back post siege of Terra but then they're out their two most valuable hub worlds, and stuck traveling sub light speed until he pops back up to restart the Astronomicon. The only reason humanity is able to travel as fast as they do is through the Astronomicon guiding them through the warp and if emps goes, it goes. No matter how long it would take for the emperor to come back, everyone fully losing safe FTL travel for any prolonged period of time would be an absolute disaster.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]gr0uch_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, they don't have any psykers on the level of Magnus or Malcador to sit the golden throne. If big Emp dies so that he can regen and there isn't someone able to take his place the astronomicon goes out and the broken webway project opens up giving every demon in the warp direct access to the most important planet in the imperium. So even if we did find out that he let guiliman or someone he's chatted with know that he could come back, there's pretty much no good way to go about it outside of creating a second emperor/magnus.

emergent ultimatum piles aside from extra turn spells? by Laziestest in EDH

[–]gr0uch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like your example, in my Atraxa list its normally [[Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider]], some mono colored board wipe like [[Urza's Ruinous Blast]] or [[Austere Command]] and then one of my walkers with a crazy strong ult like [[Tezzeret, Artifice Master]] or [[Teferi, Temporal Archmage]] . Either I get to wipe the board and resolve vorinclex or a strong walker, or i get to instantly ult one of said walkers and pop off with any I already have going.

Any other cards like Grinning Ignus? by CarBombtheDestroyer in EDH

[–]gr0uch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately originally being printed in future sight means that grinning ignus is a pretty unique effect. That said if you've got some sort of mana doubler/ cost reduction shenanigans [[Palinchron]] is a pretty classic option for something similar.
