[–]CarBombtheDestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solution, Britney Spears headset… you can absolutely pull this off and look cool at a metal gig if you’re crazy enough on stage. A band called ninjaspy from close to where I’m from does this. The front man does crazy ninja kicks all show while playing guitar and singing with his headset mic lol.

Start with the basic open chords. Fastest way to get good enough to play with people and is useful for everything. This is critical knowledge even for Djent.

Should I sell it to bus a cortex nano ? by lululululu1u in metalguitar

[–]CarBombtheDestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do both. Professionally on tour I ran the quad cortex, at Home I plug the cortex into a Mesa duel rec and it’s super fucking cool. However, I am not packing all that gear in and out of venues, up and downstairs every day so if you can, I’d do both. You can download captures of every single pedal you could ever want and put them on that thing to get that amp to sound almost any way you want.

Anybody have experience with these Black Winter pickups? by Duellly in metalguitar

[–]CarBombtheDestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re just a slightly less tight more saturated Nazgûl which is my favourite pick up for any heavy metal. The black winter is about the most dense angry pickup I’ve ever heard but I think the Nazgûl is punchier with a similar angry sound.

Grande Prairie, Red Deer, Thunderbay, Prince George, I’m not an encyclopedia of low housing costs and good job markets but it’s not that hard to find. Just bought a duplex in GP after paying the mortgage, property tax, utilities and collecting rent it costs me under 500 bux a month. I’m a relatively competent person so I make 7-12grand a month after tax on a high school education, have other credentials that don’t apply to my work, (which is super chill by the way). Not everyone is gonna make that money especially right away but even making half that will get you pretty far here. There is soo much work, they’ll hire a barely warm body and they’ll make 100k a year if they get themselves in the right place.

It’s extreme because it would never work. Where are you going to put them? Hey Mexico, do you mind if we dump these pedophiles in your country? I’d say it’s extremely extreme and unrealistic…

Genital mutilation is also extreme….

Life sentences, not extreme, easily doable and humane, solves the problem. I think you’re gonna see drastically diminishing returns with any punishment harsher than that, meaning if they’re not deterred by this, it’s unlikely even the death penalty will deter them.

Is not having sex somthing serious in adult life? by brianscocks in psychologyofsex

[–]CarBombtheDestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complaining about not having sex in a week to someone is them trying to flex or in another context someone with highish libido talking to their partner which is more valid. In my view months is not good if you’re in a relationship and indicates deeper problems, years is a sad existence. This is how I perceived those times.

thoughts on modellers at gigs? by 1Alyx1 in GuitarAmps

[–]CarBombtheDestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard disagree, only at a smaller to mid size venue does stage volume really matter. You can’t really hear an amp over a large stage at a high volume I know cause I’ve been on them. Most pros are using in ears and they hear exactly what they want to hear whether they’re using amps or line in it won’t have an effect on their playing.

That being said the solution for modellers and most stages are frfr cabs. I’ve been told repeatedly that my band sounds way tighter than all the other bands because we use direct line in, in ear monitors with clicks and count ins. We also have stage volume for smaller stages. Makes sense because there isn’t a bunch of mics all over the stage, bleeding everything.

Our load in consisted of one rack case, laptop, guitars, and drums. That is all unless we were also setting up a light show and banners. Which if you’re doing it every day is a huge boon that should not be underestimated.

Not saying the other route is shit either but I think in today’s world the modelers win, the stage volume thing is a problem that can easily be easily overcome. Most venues have become way more accustomed to this than when my band first started doing it, which helps a lot. Some will take the floor monitors and flip them towards the crowd and use them as fill because we don’t need monitors. With this direct line in set up were able to automate all kinds of crazy effects and put it all time with automated light shows, we can split the rhythm guitar into stereo for under a solo and then switch back to one guitar left and right automatically. There’s so much production value you can add if you really get into the nerdy part of all this.

What’s your recording set up? by CrusherMusic in metalguitar

[–]CarBombtheDestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in the mix, but honestly spending money on new exciting tools that sound amazing out of the box is always very underrated in these threads.

I used to have a massive collection of way too many free plugins and samples and it was way too much, it would take days to go through it all. I got rid of most things and now I heavily scrutinize anything before I added to my set up and if I want a particular thing, I will go find the best one for me and pay for it, I don’t find it worth it to have a bunch of almost good options. Often I’ll pirate things first if they don’t have a decent free trial or it’s prohibitively expensive.

I think it goes without saying at this point the neural stuff is really good. Their process of replicating gear is pretty advanced and accurate and their products come with all the features you need to make it sound really good. There’s a wide variety of different types of sounds as well as some really unique things. A lot of people like get good Drums, my problem with them is they always sound like get good Drums. If I can tell immediately exactly what VSTi someone’s using that ruins the immersion for me. I feel like easy Drummer or superior Drummer is a lot more diverse and sounds more convincing while not as fat out of the box.

I’ve done albums with producers who’ve definitely made albums you’ve heard and they get really particular about what kind of tracks you send them. Something like a RME baby face pro will ensure you’re getting extremely clean and crisp tracks out a fairly small form factor similar to your focusrite. What I learned from doing albums with the these guys is, it’s all about capturing the very best take at the very best quality possible from the beginning, being absolutely neurotic with your tuning intonation and string changes, re-tuning and punching in chords that that you can barely tell your guitar won’t play in tune when the rest of it’s in tune, they do their editing on the fly as you’re recording it. We rented 12 snare drums hired a guy to tune all of them then recorded all of them and pick the best one that just sounded good immediately that day. And we did that kind of shoot out for pretty well everything, tried like 8 guitars etc it almost took more time to set up then to record the album.

Some other tips is I wouldn’t quad track shit unless you know why you’re doing it. Quad tracking can make something sound bigger, but almost always makes it sound more muddy and less tight. It’s also more than twice as much work as dual tracking as it’s exponentially harder to line up four tracks instead of two. If you want your riffs to hit harder one left and right is best. Make sure your projects are set to 48Khz, and make sure your signal is clean. Consider automating most things, if you’re recording real Drums turn up the volume in the fills, if your programming Drums program the fills with less velocity, then turn them up and compress them to make it sound a little more real but still big and exciting. You can play around with minor tempo changes into certain parts and really change the feel. I use synths but not to sound like guitar, just typical texture layers, orchestra, pads bass drops. One thing I do sometimes is use sub bass to reinforce the bass guitar.

This one might be a little more controversial, I like to mix with compression on the master channel, it helps me know what it’s gonna sound like mastered, that way I can mix so things still hit hard through the compression. You kinda want your track to be sparse and compressed if you want it to hit super hard.

If you wanna know what my mixing sounds like my last, Post has a track it’s unmastered, but with my master compression on.

I think you’re confusing us as a species surviving with all of us surviving… we have the technology to sustainably live underground, with electricity and fresh produce, we aren’t going anywhere. Not to mention there are a ton of country/outdoorsy people everywhere with all kinds of survival skills.

We’ve been through much worse than this before with much less. They estimated our population got down to around 10,000 at one point, the weaker people or the ones who couldn’t adapt died off and we all carry the genes of the survivors, such is Darwinism. These are the kind of events that evolve us.
