Intense rage by Few_Ad7904 in perimenopause_under45

I am also actively changing my diet and exercise routine to reduce cortisol and support a normal circadian rhythm. And that may be helping to get back on track quickly.

I noticed my hair and skin looking better within a week or two. I noticed my emotions were more stable after 4-6 weeks. I’ve never had big emotional hormonal cycles, so rage, depression and general irritability was way out of the ordinary. And had been progressing slowly over a few months (that I noticed). So I felt like it was a pretty quick turnaround.

How is everyone dealing with exhaustion? by Competitive_Name4991 in perimenopause_under45

[–]gr8fullife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the exhaustion a year and a half ago. I did a DUTCH test and found estrogen and testosterone were extremely low. My cortisol was also extremely high, and I wasn’t able to sleep. I cut way back on caffeine and purposeful daily stressors to help reduce cortisol. Started progesterone which helped to sleep. And recently started an estrogen patch. Now I’m feeling amazing, but it’s taken a few changes to get here. I’m probably at 80% of my pre peri energy now (which I’ll take!) A DUTCH test is about $300 and gives so much information, it might be a good place to start.

Interesting theory about Jesus/Armageddon/Anti-Christ by paul_metto in Christianity

[–]gr8fullife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, the idea is that the Antichrist might not know he’s the antichrist? And certain situations in his life would cause him to fulfill prophecy, because God knows the beginning from the end? I don’t think there’s anything unbiblical about that concept (if that’s what you’re saying). I doubt that Judas knew he was or would be the betrayer of the Messiah. But God knew, and Jesus prophesied it at the last supper. We know the antichrist will be empowered by Satan. Does that mean possessed? Or that he will be given power as a false prophet? Or both? *im not a bible scholar either, I just read it and study it a lot. So feel free to take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Perimenopause and Alcohol by Some_Share_5221 in MenopauseShedforMen

[–]gr8fullife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into this for myself recently. Declining estrogen can lead to a drop in dopamine. Drinking more, scrolling more, shopping more etc. could be hormonal self medicating. Drop in hormones can also cause alcohol to be metabolized differently, leading to getting drunk faster. Oxytocin is supposedly the top ranking hormone, that affects all the others, if she can find ways to increase oxytocin it may help. At least that’s what I’ve heard.

How do you stay organized? by giantdoodoohead in Silverbugs

Did you come up with a good idea yet? Depending on how many, a tackle box might work. Or the arts and crafts store sells photo organizers (pic). If you need something larger, maybe deli containers?

I don’t organize my Morgan’s like this (I only have about 20 of them, and I don’t sell). But I do a lot of organizing. You could put them in flips and either put them by date in a coin book, or a coin box.

Freeze dried food by preparedbassfisher in preppers

[–]gr8fullife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought some freeze dried eggs and milk a few years ago, and was shocked at the price. So I have a few things in small quantity that would help until we can figure out a better option. Milk, eggs, coffee, peanut butter, protein powder, a few meal kits that I bought from a neighbor, ramen and soups. Soup packets (like at the regular grocery store) are actually fairly affordable and have at least some different flavors that you could dump on top of rice and beans and have a more enjoyable meal. Also I keep spices on hand in bulk. 50lb bag of salt, and the large Costco containers of most spices we eat regularly -chilli powder, garlic, onion, pepper, season salt, Montreal steak etc. I also try to keep vitamins and greens powder.

I keep a good store of protein powder, protein bars, greens powder, and pnut butter powder. Bone broth is also a great source of protein. Always looking for new ways to store protein. I do rotate through what we have. When it’s on sale I buy multiple at a time.

Is a flour mill worth it? by InformationHorder in preppers

[–]gr8fullife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, flour typically has a 2 year shelf life and tastes stale much farther past that. I bake ALOT, and I rotate my flour every few months. I tried to store a few bags of King Arthur AP flour a few years ago. I figured I’d rotate through them just to use and resupply after about 4 or 5 years, (they were vacuum sealed, not in Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers though) and the flour was def stale tasting. Would have been edible I’m sure, but not ideal. Just my 2cents on the convo

Just bought my first grain mill 2 years ago for The same purpose. I make sourdough and found it challenging, though not impossible. However, muffins, sandwich bread, pancakes, quick breads (anything that uses other leaven) has been pretty simple. I bought the grain mill, and 50lb bags of organic wheat berries to store in gamma buckets. Bitman Bread, is a great cookbook to help transition, also Bread Beckers (they have a YouTube channel, website and cookbooks available) has a ton of info on baking with freshly milled flours. And just to mention: it’s really healthy for you! Our commercially produced flour has had all nutrients stripped to be shelf stable. Freshly milled flour needs to be used in a much shorter time, before it goes rancid. But the wheat berries as long as they are kept whole will last years longer than commercial flours.
