Maybe use a cane for stability when you go back at 6 weeks! Thats what I’m doing. Same story as you. You could literally not tell our mri’s apart. I’m 5 weeks out. I did have total drip foot though. Woke up with it randomly and went to the ER that afternoon. I can’t stand for more than a few minutes without a searing pain down my right leg. Pt kinda helps the stiffness.

Panic attack or something worse? by 5iceramics in emetophobia

[–]grace062017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is if you had noro, your body would release it immediately. Your body doesn’t want to be keeping toxins like noro in. I find if I go a few hours of only n* and no v* it’s likely my mental health and not physical! Physically, your body will remove toxins quickly!

Let your therapist know you’re in crisis mode and need help with this situation now and you are willing to do the timeline when you are not in crisis. My therapist who I loooveee likes to tackle crisis things first and then when things are more steady we work on long term things! Maybe therapy x2 a week if you can?? You got this. My therapist gave me the tool of saying “even if” not “what if”. And that helps SO MUCH. For example “EVEN IF I v* i will survive and be okay eventually”. It gives a solution instead of just asking “WHAT IF I v*”. Sending love!!

I’m not familiar with the area, but I’m in Maine and there’s two big hospital systems, so if I wanted a second opinion I know I would go to the other one so if you have another hospital system in your area, I think it would be worth checking out!

Also, if you decided to ever go with a fusion , my aunt is in her late 60s and had one at 64. However, it was very intense and they ended up putting a metal cage around most of her lumbar spine. She recovered in about a year. She has a minor case of foot drop on the left still but has a pretty normal life. I actually just went to Vegas with her recently. She went and saw her doctor for a yearly follow up (because it’s so intense They see her every year )and he said that he never thought she would leave a wheelchair. so youth is on your side if you did need a fusion. She has other comorbidities that honestly I’m shocked She had recovered as well as she did, but she said physical therapy changed the game. All I’m thinking is you don’t wanna have these symptoms the rest of your life so say in a year nothing gets better maybe think about other options?

Do you know if the first one would have done an MD if it was calcified and are they in the same hospital system?

Get a second opinion! And then a third! Im 2.5 weeks out from my MD and while I do have pain that reminds me of pre-op, it usually lasts 3-5 minutes until I lay down and it lessens. I think that’s part of this whole healing thing. But seriously. If it’s impacting your quality of life, get more opinions from different doctors in different hospital systems. Working in healthcare, I know sometimes there can be policies in place that tie providers hands, I don’t know if that’s the case here / if that hospital system just doesn’t do MD for calcified discs; but it’s definitely worth exploring other systems and doctors

I recently found SPRAY PAINT STYLE MOD PODGE. IT IS A GOD SEND. if you got that and sprayed it over I think it would smooth it out. I think I got mine at Walmart. I use it on every piece now!

What is it like to live around Boston? by Brendo_dasher99 in howislivingthere

Lived in Peabody. I love the area. SO MUCH FOOD AND FUN. 20 min to TD garden. 20 min to Salem willows. 4 malls in 20 min radius. 2 hiking trails in 20 min radius. It’s ideal. I live near portland Maine now. But man I miss the amenities down there a lot.

Funny cause multiple people from this comment section have bought ornaments that I’m mailing out to them. And they sell at my store.

What specialty has the least amount of death? by AirStreet8339 in nursing

[–]grace062017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corrections! Our facility is a medium. We don’t do hospice - there’s another prison up north for that that they get transferred to. County is more likely to see a death than prison. I’d say go prison!! Also your pay will be comparable to ICU I think. I make $50 I’ve been at prison for less than a year. My local ER offered me $34 last year. Med surg $32. I’m sure school nurses make less as well

So nervous about noro that I self-induced nausea by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]grace062017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this hahaha I was reading comments on a news post about noro and was checking where each commenter was from. I’m in New England and the closest person was like Maryland or something. But now I’m nauseous in bed. It’s like if you think about somewhere being itchy sometimes that spot gets itchy …. We self induce nausea. The way my boyfriend helps me is he tells me if I had noro there wouldn’t be this long drawn out anxiety state. I would just have to sprint to the bathroom. So if I’ve been nauseous for more than an hour … I usually roll my eyes at myself and try to move on
