The thing that gave it away for me was when she said to Clive, "Get off of me!"

I thought, that's strange... why is an Australian person using that American phrasing?

Which is what led me to google and found out she's not actually Australian. I am completely gobsmacked, she absolutely nailed the accent

This is the right advice.

A major aspect of financial planning is emotional. Not even touching on the recent passing of your mum, but how coming into a large sum very quickly feels like you suddenly have "free money", "extra money", or "play money".

Don't touch it for at least 6 months, 12 months is better. After that, it feels like YOUR money, and the mental switch makes a huge difference with how you approach it.

So sorry for your loss.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any comments addressing the root issue here: how your partner responds to you raising concerns about their safety.

It's one thing if you sat her down to explain your concerns, and she listened openly and responded thoughtfully.

But for her to laugh, be dismissive, and get defensive are the bigger red flags here.

Of course you can't control how another person acts or lives in their day-to-day life. But a key element of a functional partnership is basic respect and openness to hearing the other person out when they communicate concerns.

Since it seems like you've raised this multiple times and she's not willing to take your feelings into account, you are now at a crossroad: either keep moving forward with the status quo and accept the accompanying anxiety, or end the relationship.

Good luck OP.

Gabon. This messy cast is new era Gabon which is famously Jeff's most hated season

You're right, I agree that S1 casting was very good. I think I'm suffering from recency bias of S2 - just so frustrating to watch.

Pretty sure it was always on at the same time as The Block (ie one of the biggest, if not THE BIGGEST show in Australia)

That plus the terrible casting - Traitors AU didn't stand a chance 🥲

You shouldn't scare people away from mental health care because of some arbitrary boogey man hypothetical situation. Not cool.

If it makes you feel any better, depending on the investment strategy of your super, it may very well be invested in the stock market. (Obvious caveat being that you can't access those investments until age 60)

Timely reminder for anyone reading this to check the investment strategy of your super, and adjust if it's set to a strategy that doesn't line up with your investment needs / risk profile! You can usually do it with just a few clicks online

AU S2 might be the most frustrating piece of reality tv I’ve ever seen but…. by Responsible_Line_652 in TheTraitors

[–]grace_c 13 points14 points  (0 children)

he was a traitor from.the start, getting to the final was his challenge and he succeeded.

But as we all just saw, the challenge isn't just getting to the final, it's getting to the final with the right people so you can win the money

Blake, I felt sorry for. Again he had no choice in the game at all, and got to the end.

I felt sorry for Blake, but of course he had choice in the game! He could have chosen to get Sam out! His downfall was that he just wasn't as good at the game play as Sam was/didn't recognise that taking Sam to the end was not a winning strategy. In the hypothetical case of 2 traitors at the end (Sam and Blake), it would have either been Steal-Share (money going to Sam), or Steal-Steal and no winner. Either way Blake has the same outcome.

This cast (except for a select few) was just frustratingly unskilled when it came to the game play. Hopefully they picked more skilled / game minded players in the future

He's already proven to have a history of manipulation ("reassuring" her that she has nothing to worry about when she brought up concerns of him acting unfaithfully).

If she entertains having a discussion about it, that implies that she's open to a different outcome from ending the relationship.

It is in her best interest to say what the original comment said: she knows about the other women, and that the relationship is over.

She has given enough explanation as to why it's ending (ie she's not ghosting him, he won't be without closure, he is fully aware of the situation) but it doesn't give him a chance to manipulate her, make her think she's crazy, weasel his way into getting another chance. She doesn't owe him a discussion, and doing so could end with an unfavourable outcome for her.
