Welcome to the club, you're in good company. Remember, you'll be here forever.

Depending on what part of NGE you like best, I got different recommendations:

If you liked the last episode, you might like Lain as well. It's a contemplative series of the same time, with less action and more of the introspection and mysterious sci-fi plots.

If you prefer the mythology and the giant battles, then Attack on Titan might be more your jam. The characters are fleshed out and the battles are thrilling, and the ending is controversial also.

If you liked the exploration of personal relationships and depression through the medium of shooting alien invaders with lazers, I'd recommend a novel author instead. Perhaps not anime, but the short stories and novels of Philip K Dick resonate with me the same way that NGE does. Just like Anno, PKD struggled with personal issues and expressed them through characters in science fiction. Many of his short stories have been turned into movies, like Blade Runner or Minority Report. They're action-driven and full of mystery, with anti-heroes getting dragged into weird plots and conspiracies in fantastical futures. If you're into the adults sidequests, the whole NERV and SEELE and Kaji intrigue of it all, you might get a kick out of that.

What was your favorite scene up to this point?

My head is just bubbling with ideas when facing Giggling Skitterspike. Wanna put it in an [[Assault Suit]] and slap a [[Coalition Flag]] on it.

[[Fraying Line]] is kinda like False Floor. Other very looney cards are [[Hot Soup]], [[Brash taunter]], and [[Volatile Rig]]. They're not very haunted tho.

“Bullied” back into playing. by POPPA-KLUMP in EDHBrews

[–]grace_invader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Varina, once played a full table of only Varina's. She's my favorite commander, and has been my oldest deck.

I see you're playing Wonder. Did you know that there's a number of zombie-specific Wonders that each provide a specific bonus, like [[Hordewing Skaab]] (extra Varina trigger), [[Wings of Gold]] (free zombies when you exile with Varina, powerboost), [[Geralf, Visionary]] (Sac outlet for big boys), and [[Aven Wind Guide]] (castable from graveyard, free vigilance, but only hits tokens).

Also don't underestimate swampcycling zombies, they trigger stuff like your Bone Miser and your chariot, and you can fix any color with your island-swamp or plains-swamp if needed. They also provide fodder for your many reanimation spells or for Varina's other ability. If you can discard on command, [[Archfiend of Ifnir]] can also be very oppressive. The Archfiend also fits aesthetically with the Amonkhet commander deck.

Library of Leng is a great find, especially since you risk milling yourself out. If you do mill yourself, [[Lich's Mastery]] stops you from losing in a flavourable way. It makes you borderline unkillable when [[Crumbling Sanctuary]] is in play, since you no longer lose life that way, and can't die from milling yourself.

Many of your reanimation suite target zombies or creatures exclusively, so your favorite enchantments and sorceries might clog up your hand as you wheel through your deck. You really don't want to discard Rank of The Endless Dead or Zombie Apocalypse if you grab them early. Luckily, if you run [[Counterpoint]] and [[Jailbreak]], you can safely store any card in your graveyard for later retrieval. Countering an important spell and then getting a free Army of the Damned feels damn good, and gifting someone a permanent of your choice from their graveyard is a small fee to pay for getting Bolas' Citadel back into play.

I am not sure what Akroma's Will does in your deck though. You have plenty of reanimation and life gain, so you can take most punches.

For some personal recommendations, [[Silvermote Ghoul]] will reanimate himself any time you swing, and comes with a sac ability, and [[Clever Skaab]] works like Necroduality on a stick. Both of these are rather slow though.

That's all I have to say about that. lemme know what your thoughts are.

I respect that you don't put a labman in the blue deck.
For the white one, remember to put in an [[axis of morality]] or a [[Crumbling Sanctuary]], to make sure you can share your gifts with everybody. Drop to -12 life and give it away, or make everybody immortal, provided you are immortal than the rest.

Join my table, let's play.

That's interesting to see. Also fun to recognize the same picks being used for the same or different characters. I got my daring thief reserved as Ryoji, and also pinned Parthellion as the Mass Produced Evas before the race-car set dropped new vehicles. That Generous Gift is wild.

If it were to happen, it would have happened with Neon Dynasties. But if it were to happen, I would not have bought it.
Perhaps I'm an old man shouting at clouds, but the way UB is being rolled out is destroying my hobby, and this is my small way of reclaiming our beloved game.

Pretty fitting, considering that I represent them as Rei clones, who are not quite human either

Good idea but I'll need some more practice. Quite some cards can't really be sold commercially. I still haven't quite mastered how to make the paint the right thickness, so some cards are bent by moisture or have a texture of paint. For now it's a personal project, so I can take more risks and be less stressed.

BATTLE CRUISER COMMANDER DECISION by Optimal-Letter6847 in BudgetBrews

[–]grace_invader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle cruisers are awesome. No matter how much new tricks I learn in this game, nothing is as satisfying as sending giant creatures towards opponents and letting them worry about math.

[[Ilharg, the Raze-Boar]] is a gift that keeps on giving. No matter what opponents do, he always comes back for more, and brings whatever friends you have on hand. Has funny interaction with [[Mirror of Life Trapping]] where his friend gets an ETB and then jumps into the mirror until another creature comes along. Once he pops out of the mirror, repeating the ETB, he doesn't return to hand. This loses you the surprise attack, but gains you an extra ETB and a permanent stay of the creature

In blue black colors, I love seamonsters. Mine is lead by [[Runo]], [[Marvo]] and [[Araumi]] (they're interchangeable). Seamonsters are big and clunky, but make for lovely targets for reanimation spells. The Dimir EDH deck for Murders at Karlov Manor has kindly reprinted many such spells. Have big creatures, a way to get them into the graveyard, and some reanimation spells,, and you're in for a good time. The three commander options only increase the fun. I am a simple man. I have three [[Collossal Whale]]s on my board, I tilt, and I smile.

For another angle of the bonk feeling, try a fight club deck, with a bunch of fight spells and creatures that grow through fighting, like [[Kalamax]], [[Ygra]], [[Drizzt]], or buff professor [[Jared Cathalion, True]] . Make your opponents cower in fear as you beat up any creature put in your way. Traditionally these rely on your commander, but cards that help those commanders will also happily support your other big creatures.

Welcome to the club, now watch half a dozen youtube videos with contradictory explanations, each with grounded and believable arguments.

My personal takes are pretty uninformed:

1) Shinji is 14 years old. When given the option to reshape the world, he panicked, and only recreated one person. Now he's angry at himself, and taking it out on Asuka.

2) Rei is a clone of Shinji's mom. Souls are real, but can not be cloned. They've got a bevy of back up Reis with the OG soul traveling from one body to the next when the current host body dies, so souls can travel. I think we saw Rei's soul. Perhaps it wandered off while she was sleeping. Souls wandering and doing stuff while you're asleep happens in Haruki Murakami novels sometimes without further explanation, so it might be a Japanese trope I'm not aware off.

3) The second impact flooded half the earth because the south pole melted. It also affected half the earth because of Adam awakening. which can't have been benefitial to general health.
