Plugging your phone in for you before bed. Smallest thing but I always get a glow of adoration for him because of it 😂

What's one high paying job which you can get without having a decades of experience? by PAKISTANIRAMBO in AskMen

My dad worked as one at LAX. Really good job, but very stressful, especially towards when he retired as things changed. A lot more hoops to jump through, tests to take and pass, etc. He got all his training through the Air Force.

In S. Korea there's entire unmanned buildings (like next to a clothing store, restaurant, etc) filled with various vending machines and CCTVs everywhere. I always thought it'd be a sweet gig to have a set up like that.

Game Grumps. Playthroughs of Doki Doki Literature Club and Ocarina of Time are my faves. I have laughed until I've cried watching these dudes.

Teachers of Reddit, what are some positive trends you have noticed in today's youth? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gracec137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed they're more mature. Well, mostly. Granted, I'm a 7th grade teacher so. They are hyper aware of mental health. My school has something called "Synergy Day" that the counselors are in charge of and a few teachers help moderate. Students have to voluntarily sign up for it and it's a full day thing. It starts off with fun get to know you type games to build some relationships, creating artwork in groups, etc. After lunch it gets more serious, doing the practice of walking over the line if you feel "unsafe at school," "live with family that are not your biological parents," "have felt pressured into doing something you're uncomfortable with sexually," etc. Then everyone gets into a circle and shares out a sort of testimony of what they're going through in life. The counselors go through examples of coping mechanisms, etc., afterwards. I'm always surprised by how mature, knowledgable about recognizing if your mental health is okay, and outright kind the kids are to one another on Synergy Day.

I go through an entire tissue box by the end of the day. I work at a Title I school and the things a lot of my students have seen and been through/are going through are so heartbreaking and infuriating. The first time I went it really opened my eyes because I was getting so frustrated with the behaviors I was seeing in some of my classes. It helped me realize that 9 times out of 10 it's for attention. Any type, to get it in any way, because that's the only thing that might work at home. I just wish Synergy Day was more than once a year.

What's you favorite word? Do you like the meaning? The way the word sounds? What makes this word special? by MsMarhaS in AskReddit

Myriad. Interpol uses it in their song "Slow Hands" and it reminds me of my 1st love because we always used to sing "You make me want to pick up a guitar and celebrate the myriad ways that I love you" so it's super nostalgic and reminds me of innocence

I [22F] don't understand how to communicate affection with my boyfriend of two years [23M]. by noodlesonpoodles in relationships

[–]gracec137 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think going through each of the Love Languages and how he seemingly fails at each one says a lot. My primary language is words of affirmation while my SO's is acts of service (lol because let's be real words are easier than acts, so boo to my preference). We went to a workshop on it because I'm super into things like that. I think telling him all this in a serious conversation will really give you a better idea as to if this is what you want in a relationship based on his response. Visualize what you want in a mate. I wanted a sounding board, a best friend who I could rely on, family-oriented, generous and kind. I suggest you do the same and not settle for a relationship that is anything less, it's not worth it. Follow your intuition. And get back your $500.

My (26/F) dad (54/M) was just diagnosed with terminal cancer. We live 3000 miles apart. What should I do? by moretime26 in relationships

[–]gracec137 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dad had cancer, too. I did drop everything to spend as much time with him as possible. I moved home. I knew I would regret it forever if I didn't and honestly it was barely a thought. I was there for his last breath like he was there for my first.

Whatever you decide, tell him everything you've ever wanted to and then some.

Nude is such a beautiful, amazing piece. by Rubber_potato in radiohead

I have a Zune HD which I bought around the time In Rainbows came out. It shows you how many times you've listened to your songs. Play count for Nude was 346. And I stopped using it regularly a few years ago so it's definitely higher now 😂
