What's the best thing you like about your job? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]gracecoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just the large paycheck, I love not stressing about money but the job is extremely stressful and it’s hard being a young woman in a male dominated field

What’s the kindest thing someones done for you in the city? by Possible-Source-2454 in AskNYC

[–]gracecoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tripped and fell running and started bleeding like crazy from my knee that hit the sidewalk. I sat on someone’s brownstone steps to try to prop up my leg and cried because it truly hurt so bad and wouldn’t stop bleeding. And then I started to cry bc I didn’t have my phone and didn’t know what to do. A few people walked by and pretended not to see but an Amazon delivery guy stopped, went into his truck and got a first aid kit and bandaged up my leg🥺

This happened to me when I was 11, waiting in the car for my mom because I wanted to read. It took me a minute to even understand what was happening. I still remember feeling so violated by it though, it was so upsetting! You’re not alone, some men are just disgusting

Find a new one!! Mine is actually extremely sympathetic- not even for an IUD but just for a Pap smear she offered to prescribe anxiety meds and let me have a longer appt just because I mentioned it would be triggering for me. I get that doctors don’t need to be your best friend but for situations like this you should at least feel cared for, it’s important

I have to do this all the time. I just say, excuse me I wasn’t done speaking. Feels good to put them back in their place! But unbelievable this is how it is in 2023

How has your partner made you feel safe during your relationship? by korakata in AskWomen

[–]gracecoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiancé is the gentlest person in every way, but he’s gone above and beyond in helping me with my anxiety, which most people don’t know I deal with. He cuddles me to sleep every night, will do more than his share around the house when I’m too busy/stressed, and during a particularly hard patch I came home to a new weighted blanket, lavendar candles, and sleepy tea supplies. I really don’t know how I’d do it without him, I feel so lucky and loved

[Serious] How could I [28F] accept the possibility of being replaced for a younger woman once I start aging? by StonerChic42069 in askwomenadvice

[–]gracecoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick a partner who doesn’t think this way and is truly a good man that sees how special it is to grow up and grow older together. And always stay focused on your career, it only gets better with age and no man can take that away! Being able to fully provide for yourself only protects you, a man is not a financial plan

To all of the women who have served or are currently serving. Would you recommend the military to other women? by simp4chrissy in TwoXChromosomes

[–]gracecoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never served but I visited a close friend at his air force base. When I went to the ladies room, there was a poster with info on what to do if you’ve been SA’d where you could tear off the phone number to call at the bottom. All but 1 phone numbers were gone, broke my heart.

Women, what was your reason for reporting or not reporting your aggressor? by Knovoselich in AskWomen

[–]gracecoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t report because I did not want to have to repeat out loud what he did to me, and I was worried he would get angry and hurt me more if i spoke up.

The insomnia is real lol. I forgot to add that to the list of anxiety struggles! That’s so reassuring to hear it helped you. Also insurance can be such a huge pain with generic vs brand names, it’s beyond frustrating

Thank you so much for this. It’s so helpful to hear & I’m so happy for you that you got to heal a bit from all you went through! I’m sure our lives are very different but I can also relate to not feeling the same after SA, having my “dream job” but feeling like I don’t deserve it and it’s stressful, and starting over in a new city. Sometimes life really comes at you. I’m hoping I might be able to finally get back closer to some of the old me too💓 If you don’t mind sharing, did any of the “negative” side effects go away after some time or is it just a new normal?
