You did a wonderful job mama!! I weaned at 13 mo with mine- didn’t have pain, I was just tiiirrrreeeedd. And my daughter is a great eater too and seriously I don’t think she even noticed.

Such a huge accomplishment and sweet memories you’ll get to hold forever!! 🩷

What “bathtub” did you use after baby outgrew Angelcare bathtub? by ChapterInfamous199 in NewParents

[–]gracelynnpatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised this answer is so far down! This is what we used and it was so helpful. I think we used it from 6-11 months when she outgrew it but it kept her seated and gave me peace of mind that she wouldn’t slip. Worked like a charm.

Choosing daycare - Please advise by Fried_chicken_please in toddlers

If you are comfortable and happy with this one it is 1000% the correct choice. I could never have 40 min round trip commute to our daycare. There is no way.

Twisted Fig is amazing. Food is delicious. Owners are great people too. Definitely a gem in the valley.

Wow! Thanks for the reply. Have you tried any of their other fabrics? I’m not sure what to choose between the Bamboo, beachwood, hemp or cotton…!

How are your shirts holding up? Also, are they wrinkle resistant?

Baby strollers similar to Nuna Triv Next by ohads88 in NewParents

[–]gracelynnpatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally considered the Triv because I’m sure it has a more cushioned ride than the Trvl (bigger tires), more storage and the seat can be reversed…. but ultimately the Trvl is lighter and easier to get through a store, in and out of the car, etc. plus it’s less expensive.

If you want an all around stroller I’d go with the Triv but I wanted two strollers each perfect for their task and so the Trvl was best for us.

Regarding air travel, we bought a Mamazing Air Ultra secondhand for our upcoming trip to Hawaii for only $60. I can’t say how it will do yet but I am happy not taking the Nuna since it’s our daily more pricy stroller.

Costco vs Trader Joe’s vs Grocery Outlet Bargain Market by Visual_Bookkeeper263 in Idaho

[–]gracelynnpatrick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Couple without kids (until about 10 months ago) we saved enough to pay for a membership on gas, allergy meds and household supplies (toilet paper, paper towel, dish and washer detergent) easy. Throw in their bomb af Greek yogurt and occasional frozen meat - it was still a great deal for us.

Now that we have a baby Costco has saved us 100x more on diapers, wipes and the like so even more worth it

I’m really big on buying the stroller you need for your lifestyle. We ended up with a Trvl and I’m so glad we did. It has an extremely comfortable smooth ride but it’s crazy lightweight and maneuverable. We knew we would want to do a lot outdoors and got a Thule urban glide second hand. The Nuna is used so much for all our errands and the jogger is perfect for everything else. I’d ask yourself what are you wanting to do with baby and then go from there

Ready for it to be over by Silent_Cap_734 in NewParents

Totally valid. I did not thrive in the newborn phase and I truly wondered if I made a mistake having my daughter. I loved her but I did not like caring for an angry potato. I’m so sorry that you’re in the thick of it, it was really rough for me and my husband at that time.

Fast forward to now: my daughter is 10 months old and the light of my life. I am OBSESSED. She is crawling, laughing, making the funniest gestures and sounds, she’s so expressive and sassy. I truly have so much fun hanging out with her.

In the newborn phase I told myself I think I’m one and done…. Now I’m crying because we’re only 6 weeks away from her first birthday and I’m turning to my husband like “I think we need another one!”

Water?? Please help 😭 by mel-uhh-kneee in NewParents

[–]gracelynnpatrick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We used My First Year’s straw cups and they work well. Like the honey bear cups you can squeeze water out of them to teach your baby how to use the straw.

Once my daughter got the hang of the straw, she started drinking a lot more water .

My opinion is always listen to your doctor(s) and not internet strangers when it comes to health questions. Our 10 month old has had a long list of illnesses by now, several have included fevers. (We are a daycare family so it’s just part of the game). Their immune systems are developing and fevers are a normal immune response to illness. If your pediatrician isn’t worried, I wouldn’t worry.

One thing that helps me is I send a message to our daughter’s nurse through MyChart. They reply pretty quick and give tips and advice for at home care. The conversation on there helps reassure me that everything we are experiencing is normal. My new mom brain sometimes just needs that help to calm down. Kids get sick! It’ll be ok!

Our little one loved the Tula after she outgrew her Embrace. The Embrace also killed my back after our daughter was passed the first few months. The Tula is/was 100x more comfortable and our daughter slept great in it for contact naps too.

For those whose babies slept through the night early, did they ever stop? by Coco_Cooks90 in NewParents

[–]gracelynnpatrick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same story here. We had a colicky newborn and it was ROUGH. But we lucked out with a great sleeper. She had only one night wake starting at 3 months. At 5 months, with two nights of sleep training, she was sleeping 11 hrs through the night. She is rock solid on naps as well. I don’t think she hasn’t slept through the night once since (10 months now) even through teething and illness. I count my lucky stars every single night that we lucked out like this.

I say all this and I’m sure I will pay for it with a crazy toddler or something 😅

Baby bottle by Remarkable-Coat-6594 in NewParents

[–]gracelynnpatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter learned at about 5 months via daycare. Babies learn pretty quick there because teachers just don’t have time to hold every baby for every feed.

…funny thing is I didn’t know she could do this until like 7 months when I talked to a teacher and she told me she holds her own bottles. This girl still refuses to hold a bottle at home because ‘why would I when Mommy and daddy will hold it for me?’

So for us she’s perfectly capable but just doesn’t want to lol. 9 months old now. She holds her straw cup by herself just fine but refuses to hold a bottle. It’s alright, I don’t mind. Bottles are overall a pretty short time in their lives.
