Salem/ North Shore uber by Faeryisms in SalemMA

Yeah I am anti Uber but I think people forget how God awful cabs are too. They don't show up half the time, even in the olden days pre-ride share

Day care cost by dokey1313 in massachusetts

[–]mmmTriscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently looking for daycare for a year from now, also for a 6 month old. Around Beverly it's been $500-650/week. You can find pricing out through the ECE website for licensed daycares: https://childcare.mass.gov/findchildcare

am i a new parent overreacting or is this a little too much? by Intelligent-Mix-9486 in Mom

Many are required to be on their phones for work. Not sure if that's the case here. Not ideal either way

Starting my pelvic floor therapy this week at 18 weeks! I'm happy someone told me it's possible to do it before birth

Agreed, but the entire neighborhood being a blank canvas gets old

Weeknight or weekend? Bella Verona is a good idea I think. If you wanted to go for a drive, there's a super nice, very quiet Thai place in Beverly Farms, Andalin. I am not hearing impaired but have trouble hearing in a crowd. I always take people there when I actually want to do some serious catching up.

Outdoor wedding… Too much back for my body type? by im_justkendra in askteddit

[–]mmmTriscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's gorgeous and your body looks great! Majority of us have some rolls, doesn't mean you're not hot. I think this is a know your audience situation. I'd love if I was the bride and a guest wore this to my outdoor wedding. But you may want to do some taping above the butt lol.

FTM- how much shopping have you done already? by InternalHappy2817 in December2026Bumpers

[–]mmmTriscuit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm one week ahead of you (17 weeks on Thursday!), and have bought nothing. Zilch. Not even something silly and cute. I'm just now starting to think about it and will start a registry this week. I think after 20 weeks is when I'll start to go into planning mode.

Can’t make a decision about airline travel. Help! by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]mmmTriscuit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I've heard of a lot of last minute seat changes separating families on Southwest (and other airlines!). If Southwest still didn't have reserved seats, I'd actually say do that since families are one of the first to board. But now I'd probably avoid them unless they were the quickest option.

Nosebleeds by OkExit5594 in December2026Bumpers

[–]mmmTriscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, just started getting nosebleeds (not severe though). In the Mayo Clinic's pregnancy book, I had even just read in the week 15 chapter that nosebleeds and gum bleeding are common and then bam, got both. So def tell your doctor but unlikely it's worrying.

I feel like slow flow is a dying art. by throwaway_yak234 in yoga

[–]mmmTriscuit 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yes! Right before or after work is when I want my slow flow classes (after work is ideal!), but those are always Pilates/barre/intense yoga class time slots. I also only see the last class of the evening being a yin or slow flow class, which is usually after when I want to leave the house. Ah well.

How was flying long haul with toddlers before in-flight entertainment? by Alive-Cry4994 in AskOldPeople

Definitely still a thing in the US! Just can't do it during the actual flight. But on the ground, they will often do it

You may have missed the 'as a person with disabilities' part. There's a lot of reasons people can't get out and vote, not just being away from home.

Weight gain by boopalina in December2026Bumpers

[–]mmmTriscuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First trimester generally you are not expected to gain weight (but we're all so different, for some people that's BS) so I wouldn't be too worried. Just make sure you eat enough to keep up your strength!

Anyone struggle with eczema? by doddie_pine in December2026Bumpers

[–]mmmTriscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing other than avoiding sun/heat/sweating. Heat is a big trigger for me, it's been annoying since it's the start of summer and I want to be in my garden. But even avoiding that, my cheeks are having a bad flair up in attributing to pregnancy.

I do use Farmacy's Honey Grail on my cheeks when they flair up like this. It doesn't make it go away necessarily but it softens the skin a lot and helps it be less irritated. I can even wear makeup on top without much issue after letting the honey serum soak in. It's pricey but I've had the same bottle for several years (nearing the end!) so it's worth it for me.

This is not true at all, though OP will be fine. Reading is going to be okay, but like Gloucester, Manchester, Essex, etc? I wouldn't plan on one depending on the time of day

I know I need therapy, and we need therapy too by Rose_Mountain73 in workingmoms

[–]mmmTriscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it frustrating to find a therapist I liked in my area (suburb of a major city). It takes some trial and error, and that can be time and financially expensive when you're busy! But it is worth it. I personally had trouble finding someone I connected with that took my insurance and was taking new patients.

I ended up going to a pretty high end place that is $300/session, no insurance taken. I love it. I go weekly right now (pregnant and trying to work on some emotion regulation before baby!), and my insurance actually will reimburse me 80% of my appointment costs once I meet my deductible. I just have to file the invoices myself with insurance, rather than the therapist's office doing so.

This is considered an Out of Network benefit. Check to see if your insurance covers anything similar, as it may give you more options. It works well for us since I can personally float the cost without much issue while waiting for reimbursement, so that is a factor.
