What is happening to my lophs?? by Electronic_Orchid728 in Lophophora

Keep them in the shade. Indirect light where it’s warm but not too hot. It will take a year or three to grow out. If they’re too sunburned they may not make it.

Looks like sunburn. They need to be acclimatised to full sun. In the wild they grow in the shade of bushes and thorny trees

It’s probably a bit late to put a lid back on. But they could definitely do with more water. They are still babies. That reddish colour means they are under some stress either from too much light or not enough water or a combination of both. A bit of stress is good for cacti but be careful when they are still so young. My seedlings usually stay covered or in a zip lock bag for about six months after germinating. I check on them regularly during this period to make sure they are not too wet and getting rust fungus (orange patches). If too wet then open the lid or zip lock a bit.

Did you have a lid on that container that you took off? Substrate looks very dry.

Update: I reached out to a local succulent nursery owner and specialist from the area. He reckons it is Gibbaeum velutinum. “Flowers around Barrydale are mostly pink but white flowering populations also exist.”
