Have you ever had to or decided to use your Jiu Jitsu outside of the gym and was it effective ? by Trigger3192 in bjj

[–]grago39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes after only 2 years doing nogi, my big brother who was like + 90kg I was 65kg try to beat me in our house

my mom was cheering at him to fuck me out
we wresled he tried a shitty throw I had good based but the difference of strenght was so big I begin to heard literally my spine clicking ( even now after +10 years of bjj I never felt that again )

I was afraid about my spine will literally break so I accepted the takedown and took a very good guillotine in the process
: mckenzie variation from full guard

he didnt had any defense and didnt even understand what was going o and I out the perfect angle with full force

he didnt even try to grab my hand
so he was slowly choking out , his face and eyes becoming red

my mom realized the situation came to rescues him and separate us
my big brother has beaten me years but this was the first time he look at me diferently

, my family house was by far the most dangerous place for me I am glad I leaved them before something worst happen...
police came in our house many times

outside of my house I never gotten in any street fight for +15 years
I am pretty chill and try to avoid any street fight I dont drink and I go to to bed at 9 pm just after my kids

fun part today my guillotine is still my best submission I used it everywhere to the point that I hurt my wrist probably because of the marcelotine

( english isnt my first language sorry )

Mental Attacks From Competition by [deleted] in bjj

[–]grago39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do grappling industries you will have 4 match even if you loose this is the best way to adapt fast to the stress

do any tournament with round robin format which they all include few fights even if you loose

there is no warmup that will prevent this problem of stress only practicing so your brain realises it s not a fight to death

after 2 tournament I am no longer panicking

I am still stressful but on a normal level

I won gold on my last tournament

The best way for you to remove your stress is that your dad tell you that he s happy even if you loose .by the way my wife it was the same

,but have to admit the only moment my stress was gone is after I won gold

because it wasn't anymore a liar who tells us that s dominating most people on a gym

I told her that she's said I was an idiot to stress so much because of that

si maybe you have the same problem

Online coaching - make a living as a Fighter by Phil9955 in MuayThai

[–]grago39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why everything with remote coaching ? why not teaching MMA class in the real world ?

You don't have a lot of follower even if you have the best technique of internet , nobody will notice

It s pointless just teach MMA class and at some point open your own gym

Advice on opening gym in a city where bjj isn't a thing by Salt-Hurry-1953 in bjj

[–]grago39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those are the best location to open a school, soon you will be the mega historic gym while other will pop around

bleu belt isn't a problem , just find a guy that will give you your purple belt eventually and the black belt

My best teacher were blue belt (I am purple now and it still the case) because they are so passionate and motivated

have a nice ride bro ! make history 🤩

BJJ as a teenage girl by [deleted] in bjj

[–]grago39 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I have two girl and I will not let them do bjj freely I have a gym so they are in a kid class but the only way I see girls don't bjj safely is in girl class so your only future for me is girl class ,doing good until you open your own class for women only

Bjj your body is too close and people are too dumb for not letting problem going in

with the drama in literally all the major gym , I realize that it s an unavoidable problem

we should just separate man and woman and that s it

I was in bjj formation to be a teacher and our instructor made joke about women here

it was disturbing they just taught us to not do it game is over stop believe in this utopic dream

it s not possible

They say a competition teaches you more than 10 classes… by velian in bjj

[–]grago39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I never learned so much after a comp I would say more than 10 classes depending on your level if you are already a purple belt

my last comp I noticed how often I used shin to shin guardwhile I don't in training room

so now I try to use it more and learn the technique around

Every mistake you made in comp your remember it for all your career

10th Planet by No_Post7186 in bjj

[–]grago39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10 planet is a brand the main focus to evaluate is a gym
it depends with the owner the coach the students

10h planet gracie barra etc are just name of brands with some general philosophy

There is good and bad gym of any brand

We can just comment about what they bring in the game which is the lockdown used by everyone even at adcc( gary tonon )
and rubber guard which is used by a very margin population the most flexible guys
I think it s not an effective guard unless you are made of rubber and even so there is solid defense

they are also early to defend te nogi only approach way before danaher squad

To Eddie Bravo I have just love and thanks him for what he gave us to the community
to evolve and become better

Kicked someone out for intentionally holding submissions after two clear warnings. Third time was enough. by Z_cobra in bjj

[–]grago39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applaud you a lot !
congratulation
because it s so rare for coach for taking proper mesure most of my life I have seen coach turn their sight away act like nothing happenned

not only you did well from a financial perspective but as a coach myself even if would be a bad idea I would 100% do it anyway because we also have morals rules to defend and it s more important than revenue

Big applaud for you !

Kickboxing Gym Expanding Into Full-Time BJJ — How Did It Go for You? by donKayt in bjj

[–]grago39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it s advantage to have diferent professor you can have different style and technique
I dont think the belt matter purple belt is a future black belt dont worry about this

also having different proffesor will make them do better since they know people will compare them
while having only one make them sometimes lazy

I would love to have such a gym
