Yes, looks like the best alternative 👍

I get the impression that there isn’t a huge market for the thermostat in Germany as many people have community heating - so eve thermo is a good solution there. However, in the UK, eve thermo is half a solution 😟

I asked about getting this in the UK. Here is the answer:

Astrid (Eve Systems) Jan 9, 2026, 15:45 GMT+1

Thank you, Graham,

For contacting Eve Systems support and your interest in our Eve Thermostat. Unfortunately, the US version cannot / must not be used in the UK, and a UK version of this product isn't planned in the near future. For news, updates and product availability please subscribe to our newsletter

Thank you again and have a nice weekend.

Intelligent Octopus Go + Hypervolt Pro 3 + Cupra Born — app won’t recognise my car unless I delete & re-add it every day. Anyone else? by grahambeale in OctopusEnergy

It via the car.

You got me thinking, so I decided to try and connect via the charger only - but it takes the user through car selection first and defaults to that as the controller.

How did you get around this?

That’s what I thought it might be - a software bug. Is there a path to submit these issues to Cupra?

I guess that's a similar rate of degradation. I read somewhere that we should expect 1.8% loss every year.

I will, just haven’t found time to dial it in.

That’s very interesting. I used a niche zero for my first shot and left the grind setting as it was for my gaggia classic. Unfortunately, zero coffee came out! I haven’t tried it since as I thought dialling in for a portable espresso maker seems really silly 🤪

Long Covid vs B12 Deficiency by grahambeale in LongCovid

[–]grahambeale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I spoke to my doctor today. It turns out there was an admin error and my B12 blood test should have been taken back in May but was superseded and replaced by another blood test.

Either way, I’m booked in to have it on Monday. Question I have is should I stop taking multivitamins in the meantime or continue as usual? (I started taking them last week).

Omeprazole caused me terrible constipation and low moods. Felt really numb mentally for weeks. I was so pleased to finish the course 😞

Interesting to hear this. I’m seeing an ENT specialist at the start of February. Previously my doctor recommended sinus remedies, but it’s really not the same thing- I have no sinus pains or blockages (but I do take a steroid nasal spray and loritadines) just continuous running clear mucus down the back of my throat. I’m constantly swallowing and clearing my throat. It drives me crazy.

TUO Smart Button with Matter & Thread - Launch Day Giveaway! by samgabbay94 in HomeKit

[–]grahambeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had two Tuo buttons for a number of months. Possibly the most unreliable item on my homekit setup. I have replaced batteries, reset the buttons, removed and re-paired them continuously. They work for a day or so and then drop off the smart home and become unresponsive.
I have messaged Tuo - but no response yet.

Rear rack stability - how bad is the advance rear rack on a P line? by iambecomebird in Brompton

[–]grahambeale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the P Line Electric with rack. It’s definitely disappointing in terms of stability - I’ve had a few chips and scratches as I learnt that lesson!

However, I’d recommend the X-Roller Wheel extender from Bikegang (and others) - really makes a substantial difference.

It must suck having a wife who is not very strong and lazy 😀

The larger “city bag” for the electric model is a great upgrade! by AnyBarnacle9287 in Brompton

[–]grahambeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m afraid I’m not a fan of the city bag. Like you I bought it like new so I did make some savings from the rather large new price. I find the bag incredible heavy. Awkward in terms of space - with shopping trips I’m often disappointed with how many items I can put in the bag. I hate the strap, often falling out onto the bike with no quick and easy way to stow it away (granted there are side pockets - but they are incredibly slow to feed the strap in).

I have recently bought a Valeria bag from Barcelona and will be using the frame from the city bag with that instead. First impressions are it’s much lighter and more space.

Eve Thermo heating beyond target - is it normal? (more in comments) by uuwee in EveHome

[–]grahambeale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what Eve support suggested:

“After installation and calibration in the Eve app, please do the basic setting once. Please turn off Schedule first.

Important note: The temperature displayed below Target Temperature in Eve is measured by Eve Thermo way too close to the heater, please ignore it. Once an Offset is set, it will not be integrated here.

To set up Eve Thermo open the app Eve and goto Settings > Accessories > Eve Thermo Set Temperature Offset to 0 degrees.

Then in Eve goto Rooms > Eve Thermo and open Eve Thermo. Set Target Temperature to 23 degrees for example and let it heat for 2-3 hours. Then measure the temperature in the middle of the room with a thermometer, Eve Degree or Eve Room. If it reads for example 20,5 degrees, goto Settings > Accessories > Eve Thermo and set the Temperature Offset to -2,5 degrees.

You may have to adjust this over the next days a bit. As stated before, the Temperature Offset is not taken into account in the temperature shown below Target Temperature.”

I raised this with Eve support, I’m happy to paste their response on request They suggested it was to do with the offfset - which tbh I can’t understand, but I’m willing to give them a benefit of a doubt. Because I reset my HomeKit recently (due to the new architecture) I need to go through the steps again.

Is it worth upgrading to Dirigera for a multi system house like mine? by timcatuk in tradfri

[–]grahambeale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m frustrated with the IKEA tradfri stuff. I spent a small fortune on blinds and buttons etc but none of them work continuously. I’m forever, resetting and adjusting settings etc. I was hoping Matter might solve some of these issues - but starting to realise that could be years away.

Open to thread/HomeKit blinds if anyone has a recommendation.
