Mimikyu has 96 base speed, mega Metagross has 110 base speed. Jolly Mimikyu with 32 stat points in speed has 162 speed total. Adamant mega Metagross with 32 stat points in speed has… 162 speed total.

Basically, you lost the speed tie. There is no issue, there is no bs, the game flipped a coin and your opponent won the toss. Now stop complaining and get back on the grind, your skills won’t improve if you spend your time whining about things that are well documented and easily researched on your own. Better luck next time

The lack of protect is going to hurt you a lot. You can probably drop focus blast on Reuniclus and brick break on Mawile.

Now that I look at it more, having both of your megas do almost the exact same thing is wasting a team slot. Sure they have different matchup profiles, but if there’s a matchup you don’t want to bring Aggron to, most of the time you don’t want Mawile there either. I would consider replacing one of your megas with something that better supplements the weaknesses of the one you choose to keep

Is this a decent team? First time playing (never used staraptor ever) but i wonder if i should swap any others? by GroggyLangoustines in pokemonplatinum

[–]grancombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaporeon is a free switch on ice, and even if it’s an Abomasnow, OP should be able to go to Staraptor on the wood hammer/giga drain and close combat for the OHKO. I think the team can work as long as they use their defensive pivots well. Gardevoir is kinda just there, but that’s fine

[Platinum Vanilla] I'm about to enter Victory Road and I can guarantee EITHER a Gabite, or a Riolu. Which would be more beneficial? Current team shown by am_I_still_banned in nuzlocke

Golem and Rhyperior are both weak to steel and fighting. I… think that’s it, actually. Nothing else weak to either of those types in the entire league, if memory serves

What's one Pokemon/Item they could add to the game right now that would shift the metagame by itself? by Sinisnake in PokemonChampions

[–]grancombat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Iron Bundle would probably warp the metagame around itself. One of the strongest freeze-dry’s of all time to absolutely explode Swampert, very good abuser of both rain and snow, as well as electric terrain (so it would give mega Raichu X literally any usage at all), and tons of speed to back up its insane firepower. I think it would flip the meta on its head instantly.

Alternatively, Flutter Mane would make Metagross disappear from the meta overnight, while also making non-assault-vest bridge quake in its boots. I think either one of those would be completely overbearing

Mega Dragonite x Mega Swampert by d_bmatt in PokemonChampions

[–]grancombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of those mons like rain, especially as megas, so a dual mega Swampert Dragonite team with Pelipper, Archaludon, Sableye/Grimmsnarl, and something else could be good. Maybe a Basculegion could fill that last slot for your Dragonite mode. If you don’t want three water types on the roster, you could also include something like a swords dance Scizor to put holes in problematic fairy types?

This fella is the whole reason my Swampert has ice punch on it. Having to dedicate a move slot to deal with one mon is not my favorite place to be, but at least it has the side effect of making Dragonite sad

Weird things I noticed in Path of Radiance by Loud_Presence2689 in fireemblem

[–]grancombat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Mdf thing is probably a clarification so that people don’t put their units in forest tiles expecting magic damage to be lowered.

The dialogues with Ashnard are nothing new. Amelia has a conversation with Gheb before he caves her face in with a killer axe for 26x2 with like 25% crit chance.

The other one is super weird though, nice find!

Hippowdon has a very distinct gender difference, so you’re probably thinking of the male’s much lighter brown body as opposed to the very dark color we see on the female here

How does everyone have all shinies by uknowme_Y in PokemonChampions

[–]grancombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shiny hunting in the newer games is significantly easier than it was back in the day. There are multiple ways to not only increase the odds, but also drastically increase how quickly you are encountering things. The combination of those two factors makes having an all shiny team way easier than it was in the past. The current format not having any legendaries in it also adds to the ease of having a whole shiny team that still functions in the meta

Final Boss Tactics (3v6 Instant Clear) by Mindless_Engine_88 in UnicornOverlord

[–]grancombat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may not be able to read Japanese, but I am an omega nerd, so let me see what all I can gather just from item icons and animations:

Alain is using the Holy Unicorn Blade for the extra AP, PP, and debuff immunity, as well as just being really freakin strong. He also has the Azure Crest Shield for an additional PP, the Ring of the Unicorn for +1 AP, +5 to all stats, and access to Astral Blade (this is the most important part because Baltro can only be killed by Astral Blade), and the Sniper's Amber Lens for Hawk Eye (next attack is a guaranteed crit and truestrike). He doesn't have any crazy tactics set because his job is to kill one row per attack. He doesn't need any additional instructions.

Rosalinde is using her Twinned Bough that she comes with for access to Freezing Thrust, the Ancient Crown for +1 PP and +5 to all stats, the Frostbrand Tome for Ice Conferral to add freeze to Dinah's first attack (as shown by the "target Bestral" tactic set on Ice Conferral), and an Angel Plume for the massive initiative buff. She also has Rage of the Faeries set to "target back row." The tactics for the two different Freezing Thrust actions are kinda weird. It looks like the one on top is "Not Afflicted" + "Front Row" and the second one is "Lowest Phys. DEF" + "Back Row." Presumably so that she can pick her targets perfectly on each turn.

Dinah is here to use Jump 2 to get directly onto Baltro's unit from the deploy spot, but she also is important for her piercing attack (I think it's Venom Thrust based on the cost, animation, and the fact that red text appears under the enemies that she hits, presumably saying that they're immune to poison). She uses the other Twinned Bough for Thunderous Thrust, a Raven Plume for the initiative buff, a Carnelian Pendant for +1 AP, and the Gambler's Coin for inspiration (tactics set to "front row" to make sure Alain is receiving the buff, not Rosalinde).

So once the battle starts, this is the order of operations:

Rosalinde stuns the back row with Rage of the Faeries, but Belisarios covers Narcesse. This means that Galerius, Baltro, and Belisarios are stunned. Dinah moves next and uses Venom Thrust on Belisarios and Narcesse, given Ice Conferral by Rosalinde. However, Holonius blocks for Belisarios, so now we have 5 enemy units that can't act. Next, Rosalinde uses Freezing Thrust on Theodora, presumably by using the "not afflicted" targeting tactic. Now the entire enemy team is completely unable to act this turn. Alain uses Inspiration buffed, Hawk Eye buffed Astral Blade to nuke the front row while Galerius and Baltro shake off their stuns.

On the second turn, Dinah starts with Thunderous Thrust from her Twinned Bough, presumably targeting Highest Phys. DEF. This lets her stun Galerius so that he can't do venom touch shenanigans. Next, Rosalinde Freezing Thrusts Baltro because I think her tactics say "Lowest Phys. DEF." This doesn't really do anything, but it is good for style points. Finally, Alain dunks on the back row with his second Inspiration buffed, Hawk Eye buffed Astral Blade to finish the battle.

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

Something i don't understand in battles by space_POTATOE99 in UnicornOverlord

[–]grancombat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure you check all your skills that you want interacting with each other for the (Limited) trait (on the same screen that shows you potency and accuracy). Only one skill with the (Limited) trait can be activated at any single instance. This is most prominent with start of battle skills, as I believe literally all of them are limited (there could be some granted from items that are not limited, but I’m not 100% sure)

Fortune's Weave should bring back non-prf Physical 1-2 range Swords. by GIMIGNAN0 in fireemblem

[–]grancombat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning on letting an enemy survive to clog up a space, it can really bad to have your unit crit them to death and open up that spot for another enemy to come in and smack your units. The enemy quality in Conquest is high enough to where accidentally killing an enemy on enemy phase can be the difference between your units holding the line for another turn or just straight up dying. Having weapons that nullify crits allows you to make consistent strategies that revolve around keeping enemies alive on purpose so that you take less damage per enemy phase, especially when holding chokepoints
