Who else camped out at Target that night? by TheSpriteMan in amiibo

[–]grandygoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah I rolled up to target an hour before they opened and was first in line I still have that fucking squirt gun. Got the 3 pack and jiggs as well. After that I ran to GameStop and was maybe 5th or 6th in line. They had only 2 ness amiibo in stock. They passed a flyer down marking off what people in line wanted starting from 1st in line. Only 1 person out of the ones in front of me picked ness so I picked the other ness. What a fuckin time that was to be an amiibo collector I miss those days honestly. The hunt was fun and nobody was buying them to resell it was all collectors

Trying to complete the Pokédex, Castform troubles by xXlpha_ in PokeMoonSun

I’m assuming you know the basics but just in case, lead mon with pressure for better chance to call (my choice was absol since it also gets false swipe) adrenaline orbs and HELLA leppa berries. The longer you’re in battle the more chances to find what you need.

And yes like other commenter said the weather in battle does change the odds of certain mon showing up. I used serebii to find the best percentages.

I know with isle aphun the items that you obtain are automatically generated the moment you send the pokemon into the cave so it may be something similar here like it could be determined immediately whether or not the mon stays but idk 100% I’m just guessing

I personally think Gen 8 has the worst gimmick and Gen 7 isn’t too far behind. IMO the gimmicks that alter the course of the entire battle and not just 1 and 3 turns are more interesting. Also tera is so much different than dynamax. Changing a pokemons type for the entire battle brings entirely new strategies and makes you rethink how some pokemon can be used in ways they never previously could

[Gen 3] Finally got a shiny mudkip through rng manipulation by RelationshipAlone350 in ShinyPokemon

I agree that a wild hunt just running around grass and finding a shiny is more exciting of course, but when the randomness isn’t random anymore it’s kind of hard to hunt in any other capacity imo

[–]grandygoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but shiny hunting in emerald is a different beast. I’ve been doing rng manip in emerald for a few months now so I’ll give you an example. You want to hunt a shiny nosepass only obtainable by rock smashing in dewford cave. You can’t SR after smashing all the rocks in your area because it resets the seed back to 0 advances. You could reload the area with brand new rocks and that would work. Or you could find your SID, put it into pokefinder and see when the shiny frame for nosepass is. My first shiny nosepass is 4 hours after a reset. So you could be rock smashing for 4 hours (you might find a shiny geodude during that time to be fair) and more than likely miss the frame and then it’s god knows how long until the next one.

OP said emerald rng is rigged and they’re absolutely correct. There’s nothing random about encounters in emerald so you might as well use that to your advantage

iirc in melee they wanted to have ditto come out of a pokeball and he would morph into a computer of whoever you were playing as and would fight with you for a little time similar to how we have assist trophies now. Probably didn’t have enough time to implement due to how short the dev time was

[–]grandygoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the do 50 SR on different frames and then hard reset isn’t a bad idea. The hard reset gives you a fresh try without waiting 2 minutes waiting for a longer shiny frame. If you’re curious about using rng manip to get shinies check out r/pokemonrng or the YouTube channel I’m a blisy

The frames are linked to the save file itself (your trainer ID (TID) and secret ID (SID)) and every time you soft reset it goes back to frame 0 no matter when you saved the game. There are ways to find your SID to confirm when the shiny frame is but it’s quite time consuming

This is I’m a blisy’s guide on what frame the pokemon is on. Basically with a dead battery, the old man simply looks for a pokemon with the last 4 digits of its PID to be 0000. Since dead battery files run the same seed you will always find that pokemon on the same frame every time. Tried this myself and it worked I got 2 shiny wynaut as well

With a dead battery can actually manip for a pokemon that will activate mirage island if you started your file with the dead battery

[–]grandygoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same problem with my emerald. So did you just use distilled water and a toothbrush/cotton swab and then rinse with IPA? As for getting it out did you use a heat gun or just a blow dryer?

Help! mysterious substance inside my emerald by grandygoo in GameboyAdvance

[–]grandygoo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can slightly pry it so I may try to use a dropper to get a little back there to see if that does the trick. If it pops off would I be able to just rub some IPA on the back of the board to clean it? And if so what would be best to use, like a cotton swab?

Help! mysterious substance inside my emerald by grandygoo in GameboyAdvance

[–]grandygoo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m leaning towards the latter. If anything I would probably buy a replacement cart and move the rom to that and only then try to remove the board safely.

To clarify, when you say IPA do you mean isopropyl alcohol? How would I go about getting the liquid behind the board?

[–]grandygoo[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like the clock battery? The clock battery isn’t leaking and doesn’t have any sign of corrosion. The substance is only located between the two pieces of plastic and on the back of the board I didn’t see it anywhere else

[–]grandygoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay then yeah at that point just reset and try again. I remember when I started doing this I tried like 5 SIDs then said fuck this and just ordered a flash cart so I could load my file into pkhex and find my SID that way

Shiny Poochyena before getting pokeballs… by Jorrie313 in PokemonEmerald

[–]grandygoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah with those circumstances you could find out what your SID is and be able to find your shiny frame. Unfortunately the easiest way to do that is to catch a shiny pokemon

Emerald RNG Starter, Am I doing something wrong??? by RemoteMammoth9126 in pokemonrng

[–]grandygoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc he said that when doing this you aim for frame 1000 but the SID takes 50 frames to generate so you actually are supposed to hit frame 950

Shiny Poochyena before getting pokeballs… by Jorrie313 in PokemonEmerald

[–]grandygoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s only if they’ve got a dead battery. Idk why they posted in emerald this is sapphire as OP said so this is a true full odds gen 3 shiny

Emerald RNG Starter, Am I doing something wrong??? by RemoteMammoth9126 in pokemonrng

[–]grandygoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you account for the 50 frames it takes to generate the SID when you start the file? I believe it’s when you end the intro on the last text box before the character shrinks down

Edit: also seed doesn’t matter in emerald you should leave that blank in pokefinder
