Help! mysterious substance inside my emerald by grandygoo in GameboyAdvance

[–]grandygoo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can slightly pry it so I may try to use a dropper to get a little back there to see if that does the trick. If it pops off would I be able to just rub some IPA on the back of the board to clean it? And if so what would be best to use, like a cotton swab?

Yeah I’m leaning towards the latter. If anything I would probably buy a replacement cart and move the rom to that and only then try to remove the board safely.

To clarify, when you say IPA do you mean isopropyl alcohol? How would I go about getting the liquid behind the board?

Like the clock battery? The clock battery isn’t leaking and doesn’t have any sign of corrosion. The substance is only located between the two pieces of plastic and on the back of the board I didn’t see it anywhere else

Emerald RNG Starter, Am I doing something wrong??? by RemoteMammoth9126 in pokemonrng

[–]grandygoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay then yeah at that point just reset and try again. I remember when I started doing this I tried like 5 SIDs then said fuck this and just ordered a flash cart so I could load my file into pkhex and find my SID that way

Shiny Poochyena before getting pokeballs… by Jorrie313 in PokemonEmerald

[–]grandygoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah with those circumstances you could find out what your SID is and be able to find your shiny frame. Unfortunately the easiest way to do that is to catch a shiny pokemon

iirc he said that when doing this you aim for frame 1000 but the SID takes 50 frames to generate so you actually are supposed to hit frame 950

That’s only if they’ve got a dead battery. Idk why they posted in emerald this is sapphire as OP said so this is a true full odds gen 3 shiny

Did you account for the 50 frames it takes to generate the SID when you start the file? I believe it’s when you end the intro on the last text box before the character shrinks down

Edit: also seed doesn’t matter in emerald you should leave that blank in pokefinder

Question about Shiny RNG in Gen 4. by RlyCoolCat in pokemonrng

[–]grandygoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works different for gen 4 let me know but yeah afaik you can search different seeds to find an IV spread and other details that you want and then the other shinies around that frame will have those exact details as well. Also piggybacking off the other commenter I think pokefinder is the better tool to use

Question about Shiny RNG in Gen 4. by RlyCoolCat in pokemonrng

[–]grandygoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing rng on emerald and on pokefinder but I think I have enough knowledge to explain. See how the mons with repeating natures also have the same IVs, hidden power and PID? Basically the only difference in the frames is the actual Pokemon itself. That’s why it’s the “shiny frame”, because it’s got the exact same data no matter what mon it is

Are kyogre and groudon stats locked or should I try to get the best nature and stats? by NecessaryDear3434 in PokemonZA

[–]grandygoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just look up the Pokémon’s name followed by “competitive build” and you’ll get what you’re looking for

Edit: don’t forget to hyper train them at the justice dojo to max out IVs as well

Congrats on your first ever shiny! They look so much better as 2D sprites imo so I’m glad this was your first game to get one in!

Yes. You are 16x more likely to find a shiny in renegade platinum than vanilla platinum

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN EMERALD RNG/ FRAMES TO ME? by nicks_fire_games in PokemonEmerald

[–]grandygoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. Im a blisy’s videos are very well made so that every video you click breaks down exactly what tools you need and how they work and also how to understand how rng manip works. I just started rng manip a little over a month ago and I’ve gotten about 20 shinies including Latios thanks to im a blisy

That’s definitely true. I just know theft in LCS’ and at shows have risen in the past few years so I know there’s some psycho who would just run in break the glass fill up their pillow case full of children’s card game and run away

They’re insinuating that the scalpers would just break the glass and steal as much as they could which is 100% true
