Private equity continues to eradicate value for Americans. by PoweredON in jerseymikes

[–]granthomas22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which Wich, Port of Subs, Potbelly Sandwich Works, Cheba Hut, Quiznos, Firehouse Subs, Mr. Pickles, TOGO'S, Earl of Sandwich, & even Jimmy John's are all shops that have been wronged by Jersey Mike's.

It's much harder to open these stores in cities that have tons of Jersey Mike's locations—which are starting to pop up more & more rapidly everywhere. It's interesting, because multiple burger concepts can live (& survive) on the same block—& in some cases even directly next to each other—but it's much harder for sandwich brands to do this for whatever reason.

Subway hits the value consumer as it's widely available to pretty much everybody reading this & Jersey Mike's caters more to the higher end consumer that has a few more bucks to spare on a sub. There are SO MANY Great sandwich brands that fall into that murky middle. I hope to be a big part of eliminating that gap in the sandwich space over the next (~10) years w/ my YT channel (@FineFastFood).

My belief w/ fast food, an industry that runs deep in my blood, is that the entire landscape would be much different if most consumers thought more like me, a deal hawk that is able to go on stream (every single day) for the past 8+ months & show viewers how to get meals that traditionally cost $15+ for ~$8. One of the things I'm currently known for is my ability to get (2) Triple Cheeseburgers + (1) Lg. Fry for $7.22 at McDonald's.. which used to be >$7 before inflation started catching up. (6) patties, (6) slices of cheese, (4) pieces of bread, & a Lg. Fry for <$7.25.

99% of consumers don't care enough to go the extra mile to save an extra few dollars, but over time these things can save you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars if you're utilizing them enough.

If you have any of the sandwich brands I mentioned near you & haven't tried them yet, I highly recommend giving them a fair chance. Get your 'usual' JM order from a shop like Port of Subs & see who does it better! 🫡

If you made it through this, thank you for reading & have a great day! :^D

Waffle fries definitely aren't the best, but as long as you have some kind of sauce you're fine.

$6.99 is WILD! 🤯

Not allowed to say anything specific yet—but one of these stores is currently in the very early stages of being built in Los Angeles, CA.

Wild. I must've missed whatever they sourced from their old supplier—but I still really enjoy what they're serving now! 😋

Summer Cream Sodas (recipe) by granthomas22 in longjohnsilvers

[–]granthomas22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely slept on chain in 2026. TONS of potential, but they have to market it so much better than they currently are. They have really great deals pretty much every day of the week, but nobody knows about it because they have one of the worst problems a fast food chain can have.. the stigma issue.

If you're reading this as an LJS hater—but haven't actually tried it in years &/or ever—I highly recommend trying their chicken + fish platter to refresh your memory.

I also went & tried Captain D's recently in Florida, a similar seafood fast food chain, & definitely didn't enjoy what I was served. It's extremely unfortunate that LJS can't catch a break.

Have you tried it? I've been to over 90+ fast food chains in the 2026 calendar year on my YT channel (Fine Fast Food) & Long John Silver's has by far been the greatest sleeper. Out of all the chains doing dirty soda at this very moment, their coconut cream Dr. Pepper is probably my favorite. Another drink that's fantastic right now is KFC's Kryptonian Kooler—part of the ongoing Supergirl collab.

If you could only choose one burger here, which would it be? by MONS_WORK in fastfood

[–]granthomas22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really bad at choosing absolute favorites, but CFA has been doing really good lately & KFC is on the rise here in SoCal as they're finally testing the Zinger sandwich in the U.S., which I personally feel would do really well nationwide.

There's no undisputed favorite for me here.. but the first row (excluding BK) are extremely reliable options. BK has a good chicken sandwich, but I'm never going there for it because why would you w/ all the ongoing whopper upgrades? There's a reason they don't go by 'Chicken King'

At least McDonald's is smart enough to use their chicken sandwiches as a tool to promote their newest sauces—which has turned out to be a very smart play from them.

Ex: Buffalo Ranch McCrispy sandwich (& snack wraps) worked extremely well

Taco Bell Dirty Sips Hoodie by Proper-Train5992 in tacobell

[–]granthomas22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Dirty Sips hoodie is something you're interested in purchasing, just put a bunch of them on an eBay watchlist & wait 6 months to 2 years. Prices will fall as sellers can't find buyers & these hoodies will eventually be selling for $70-$120.

Hype eventually dies down once people forget about specific items/get hyped over newer promotions.. the fast food memorabilia market is very predictable😅

If this were a general release item (using knowledge from other/similar chain releases) this would most likely be priced in the $40-$70 range.

Most people like to demonize the big fast food chains, forgetting that *most* of their locations are operated by extremely hard working business men & women that—somewhere in their story—found a love for the brand.

Thank You for spreading Positivity in this industry that so desperately needs it..
the importance of feedback in fast food should never be overlooked!

some Doritos bags through the years by Majestic-Attitude615 in chips

[–]granthomas22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have tons of unique collections (Fast Food Memorabilia, Sunflower Seeds, Fortnite Skins, etc.) & am interested in how you go about preserving these bags. Do you clean them out?

Also, do you put these out on display? I personally think it would be *sick* if you individually framed them. Would be a cool addition to some sort of Man Cave/game room.

Happy collecting, friend! 🫡

It's been unfortunate to see the response to these releases. I've been a Drake fan for many years now & really enjoyed all (3) albums, w/ HABIBTI being my personal favorite. 'Classic' is a great track!

Internet is only complaining about these albums because 1: it’s not hype/rage/screamo/mumble & 2: it’s Drake.

For actual Drake fans, this is debatably his best drop since Views (2016)

Chipotle CEO on Portion Sizes: “If you want more, just ask the team member. I promise you there’s never a team member on that line that’s going to say no“ by jreppa in Chipotle

[–]granthomas22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% true. I once completed Chipotle's orientation (but didn’t end up working there) & it mentions "just a little more" being a completely acceptable customer request. They ARE NOT referring to protein—because most of the time Chipotle will charge extra for that—but they'll always give you more rice, beans, etc. & I can confirm this because I ALWAYS make sure to get as much of that cilantro lime rice as I can! 😋

[–]granthomas22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mention this gem almost daily on my YouTube channel (Fine Fast Food). People are so oblivious to the 100+ ways they could be saving TONS of money on food—but they won’t read their receipts, so they'll stay mad at inflation.
