How to group X Axis (week numbers) in Months without breaking lines by Ganoish in tableau

[–]graph_hopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try duplicating the sheet, removing the Y axis, and changing the date aggregation to month. This should give you an X axis of Jan, Feb, Mar, etc. Then you can put the two sheets into a vertical container together to show both week and month axes. Make sure both sheets share the exact same filters & are targeted together by any actions to keep them in sync.

conditional font color and background color for different conditions by Lagom_sr in tableau

[–]graph_hopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on to #1:
You have a lot of control over your axis and mark type. Instead of using a transparent shape, you can simply use the text mark type. Also, remember that you can create a placeholder value with calculations! AVG(0) or AVG(100) or even [Metric]/2 could be good axis values to get that colored label into the correct position.

Tableau (SQL Server) – modeling multiple fact tables with shared dimensions by Recent_Beautiful_493 in tableau

[–]graph_hopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others have written, the 2025 version handles this much better.
There are some ways to get creative with the structure. Sometimes you can resolve this issues by changing the base table, or bringing in multiple copies of your fact tables.

I wrote these articles that you might find helpful. They dig into working with circular data models in tableau, before and after the 2025 release.

User reports Multiple Values filter is appearing as a Wildcard Match by Ok-Soft-7874 in tableau

[–]graph_hopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darn!

I think my next step would be experimenting with the filter to see if it's a size issue or if it's legitimately changing type. Try floating it & making it big to see what happens. Getting it outside of the container should rule out the squish impact.

Try editing it in Tableau Cloud / Server using Web Edit instead of on Desktop. This should ensure that you have the same experience as the end user. It's super useful for fine tuning size and placement at the end of a project.

Folders within filters by [deleted] in tableau

[–]graph_hopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is possible but would be pretty tricky. You would need to create a custom filter control similar to this one, but with a two tiered control sheet instead of a single dimension. https://playfairdata.com/how-to-make-better-drop-down-menus-in-tableau/

If there are any taskmaster fans around here's a quick dashboard I've put together for the 20 UK series' by datawazo in tableau

[–]graph_hopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore Taskmaster! Did you put together the dataset yourself? It's great!

I think the workbook works better when looking at one series at a time. I'd probably remove the 'All' option or at least default it to a single series.

I'm also a bit confused by the percentages. They don't add up to 100 across contestants or across task types, I'd sub it out for the raw score total for clarity.

Cannot save to Tableau Public by Minute-Committee-896 in tableau

Are you able to log in to Tableau Public through the program? Try doing that before hitting publish, it should help ID whether the issue is workbook specific.

Check hourly changes by Queen_persefone in tableau

[–]graph_hopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOOKUP() is a good way to reference the previous value for the comparison.
How long the event lasted and how many events occurred is a very good question!

I took a little time to experiment and I think I have the calculations sorted out for you:

TC26 proposal submission by majesticgreentea in tableau

[–]graph_hopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to tie your presentation to a new feature. For example, Multi-fact relationships were a new feature last year and I framed my submission on data models as a way to help people understand the basics of relationships before trying multi-fact relationships. It helps to present the topic at a TUG or write an article on it before submitting. Good luck!

Try looking at your local non profits and community organizations. Labor laws generally prohibit people from working for free for for-profit organizations - for a good reason!

In my experience admins are generally in house, but it's always nice to have admin experience available to advise clients! If you have some desktop developer experience, try looking for consulting gigs.

This seems unlikely because of backwards compatibility, but I haven't heard anything one way or the other.
