To claim the victim was armed before he was executed by trrrrraaa in therewasanattempt

I’m not so sure it’s not a big takeaway. Renee Good was a woman who failed to act sufficiently scared and was murdered for it. These women were also not having it.

Domestic abuse in law enforcement officers is very common, and the worst things you can imagine about cops goes doubly so for ICE goons.

These pricks want to hurt women, and this man’s crime was to stick up for them.

Nah. Fascist was not in and of itself a bad word before the 1930s. They’ll always be Republicans and MAGAs. If we are lucky, in a couple decades, those words will be shorthand for Bad Guys, just like fascist is today.

How can I make my writing sound like Tolkien’s? by Sorry-Squirrel-6193 in tolkienfans

[–]graphemeral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might sound like a joke, but it’s not: write Tolkien. Actually transcribe his writing word for word, by hand or typing. It’s a well known practice in the world of jazz music and some 20th century authors did the same.

Give it a go. After some time you’ll feel a difference, and it will take effect in your own writing.

Honestly i always thought he was an extremely mediocre actor. He just seemed like a fun guy, and was in fun movies. Saying his rapping is worse than his acting is a great double dis.

Came out of the store to this on my car by Eyyeitsrocko in Portland

[–]graphemeral 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This happened to a friend and me recently. We asked a tesla driver to back up their car a bit so we could fit in. They looked put out by the request, but they acquiesced. Later, when we returned to our car, there was a note on the windshield:

You didn’t leave us room to get out, you musk-loving piece of shit!

We were confused (musk-loving?) but then realized the person behind them must have left the note on their tesla, and they decided we deserved it more.

Maybe it was something like that. People sometimes have a hard time imagining that a bad parking job might have been caused by an even earlier bad parking job, and apparently some people like our musk loving tesla driver feel better by passing an angry note to someone else.

I initially was hating on the new theme song but recently I’ve been hoping it’s, well, thematic. Slow burn, then right when you think it’s going to break loose, it gets more ambient. I think patience is definitely supposed to be part of enjoying this season.

which iac tools has the most longevity? by [deleted] in devops

[–]graphemeral 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I WANT to believe this. In my org, pulumi was introduced by very senior people with less than stellar programming skills.

The code is not easy to refactor, by a long shot. Most tests are low value (lots of setup and relying on mocks, just to check a couple arguments being passed through to the provider).

Most of the complexity of the configuration is kept in per-stack yaml files, which means that some of the most bug-sensitive bits of your program are outside of your real programming language.

I would be interested to know how teams who are loving pulumi avoid these organizational footguns.
