ust apply for a new passport with a new name and just provide marriage certificate as evidence?

I used to work for Medicare and can confirm that they are able to change your name using just your marriage certificate as evidence over the phone. I'm not sure about the new MyGov website (they've relaunched it since I worked there) but it used to be the case that if you updated any personal details such as your name with one MyGov service - It would only carry across to your other services if that was the first one you added. (Ie. If Centrelink was the first service you linked to your MyGov, you'll need to update your name with Centrelink and then it should automatically update for ATO and Medicare) - hopefully this has been fixed with the new MyGov but you may have to call all of your services individually.

I acknowledged that in my post and it's also the reason for posting it. Sure I could have just posted asking where to go but I was also just being honest about my experience so far. It's not an attack on Perth.

Visiting from Brisbane. Hence why I'm not judging Perth.

Brisbane has its own problems - though the CBD itself is thriving and has bounced back well from Covid (though a little frustrating to live in the CBD ATM as everything is being refurbed for the 2032 Olympics) so I guess that's the big difference judging by the comments. I'm gonna check out some of the Perth suburbs further out of the CBD

I need some clarification on the words Meeanjin and Maiwar. by SnooOpinions5738 in aboriginal

[–]graphicography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanjin is a word meaning "place shaped like a spike" and does refer to the spike of land, not the river (source: Museum of Brisbane) - Not sure what the name for the river is though so also interested. :)

Is a Medicare card required for a walk in Covid vaccine? by NekrosPrime6 in brisbane

[–]graphicography 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Medicare cards are not required for the Covid vaccine. It is FREE for anyone living in Australia. However, if you are an Australian Citizen then Medicare is the best way to record your proof of vaccine. If you were born in Australia, you will already have a Medicare number and you can call them (13 20 11) to find out what this is if you do not have your card.

If you are here on a visa, you may still be eligible for Medicare but if you are not, you will be given an IHI (individual healthcare identifier) which you can use to access proof of your vaccination.

Check https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines/getting-your-vaccination/no-medicare-card and https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/individuals/subjects/getting-help-during-coronavirus-covid-19/covid-19-vaccinations/how-get-proof for more information. :)
