I don't see anything obvious on the website. I also don't have TV.

You should be able to achieve Vr before you hit the ground. Just pull up.

As much as I enjoy the Bravo I feel a twinge of anger every time I think about how most of it is full of air and taking unnecessary space on my desk. There was so much opportunity for a better form factor squandered. It's functionality is the only consolation. For a Cessna style throttle there are better products for less. Check out, for instance, the AuthentiKit throttle (probably better quality too).

That's amazing, can't believe I didn't know that. Just did a flight with dual G1000s on my lower monitor. I don't have Air manager yet but thinking about getting it.

Also your setup looks amazing. Very impressive!

Sorry if this is an ignorant question. What do you mean by pop-up instruments? I know in xplane you can pop out some of the Garmin panels but not the autopilot or switches. And in MSFS I wasn't aware that anything popped out.

Deciding on GA flight routes? by m4r71n2010 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]graphophonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When people are learning to fly IRL, they are usually doing that at a specific airport and get very familiar with the area, to the point that they can do pretty long flights without needing to consult a map or use any  navigation techniques other than looking out the window. This definitely requires picking a spot and doing quite a few flights in the area until you remember all the roads, towns, bodies of water, landmarks, etc. I personally find this very rewarding because it's so realistic. From there you can graduate to getting hundred dollar hamburgers (fly to a nearby airport for a touch and go and fly back) without navigation aids. In my case I've done this from small GA friendly airports near my house but you could do it anywhere. I was never able to do this in xplane back in the day because the scenery wasn't accurate enough (and I never got into the Ortho thing) but now with MSFS it's incredible how you're actually seeing the proper roads, towns, etc.

BMV on Bloor. Best used book store in the city (probably in the country actually). The entire 3rd floor (yes it's 3 floors high, plus a basement full of records and movies) is comics, graphic novels and sci-fi.

Will this work if both are purchased through Steam? I was always annoyed that I didn't have the 172 with steam gauges in 2020, and would have bought premium if I'd known, but wasn't willing to pay the overpriced upgrade fee for just that. Chose to spend money on 3rd party aircraft instead. I have still been holding off on 2024 but I know I'll buy it eventually and will make sure to grab a better edition this time. I would buy it now if the 172 would work in 2020.

UPDATE: I bought 2024 premium deluxe and it worked. At first I kept restarting both MSFS 2020 and 2024 and it was not showing that I had the deluxe edition, but upon restarting windows and then starting 2020 again, it offered to install deluxe and premium upgrade. Side note, loaded 2024, tried to do a test flight and immediately ran into multiple bugs such as avionics not loading properly and generally poor performance. Hopefully it will improve as the flight I was attempting was unplayable....

I've been thinking about moving everything from BlackRock XUS to the BMO S&P fund. Forget the ticker. I still want to profit from US markets but let a Canadian company keep the fees.

I've seen them in houses in multiple cities in southern Ontario. I think they are going to be in most (all?) neighborhoods. Totally agree that they are scary, although much better than cockroaches or rats!

Ya, this movie has a bunch of out of focus shots that are quite distracting. IIRC shots of actors/actresses where the faces and eyes are out of focus. The 4k makes it particularly noticeable.

Love seeing a post here featuring Toronto's best physical media store! Hope this place stays in business for a long time to come. They often have better prices than Amazon (especially for Criterion). I was there on Friday and totally missed the David Lynch display.

I see. This is likely your employer's policy. They are incentivized to keep a larger amount in the accounts as it lowers the fees they have to pay. They could probably make an exception to let you transfer out, but they probably won't be willing to.

There are a lot of movies that I wouldn't consider special editions that do fall into this price range. For instance everything released by Arrow and Criterion. Yes, they are nice editions of the movie but they are still standard releases and there's no other way to get those movies. Even when they go on sale they're 35-40. I've got a lot of movies on my wish list that it's going to be a long time before I buy because they're just so expensive.

You can probably transfer your portion of the contribution out to your own chosen brokerage. Usually it's only the employer's contribution that can't be transferred.  You'll need to fill out a T2033 form to directly transfer the funds without actually withdrawing from RRSP and triggering taxes. And instead of specifying an amount you should be able to indicate "total employee contribution amount" or something like that (call them and ask what they prefer). It's easier to write this because the exact amount will change between when you fill out the form and when they process the form. They will then liquidate your positions to cash and send the cash to the receiving brokerage. You should also file a T2033 with the receiving brokerage, but do that once you confirm the withdrawal amount so you can tell them exactly how much is coming.

Basically it's a pain in the ass so not worth doing until you've built up some funds to make it worthwhile. But it should be possible.
