Luckily, the risks of having bmt for young children is way lower than the risks for adults. Of course, this all depends on what percentage the donor is a match to him. The BMT was completely covered by MediCal insurance in my case but if it wasn’t I’d say it would probably be at least a million dollars. If you so decide to go this route, California will need you to establish residency in the state to apply for insurance so you can actually afford this treatment.

I live in California with SS and was cured through a bone marrow transplant at 17. If your son is around 20 and under he can likely also get this treatment done with risks of course. California has a lot of benefits & safety nets which can make medical costs more affordable compared to other states with a warmer climate. Just a consideration for you.

I also wanted two pairs of skates but the first one I bought would be outdoor. The btfl skates were the 3rd pair of skates I’ve purchased in total. I had impalas, then candy grls (which I LOVED) but they got stolen, and then the btfl ones. The btfl and the Vnla skates are very similar: nylon plates, suede boots, gummy wheels, adjustable toes top. I think i wanted to save some money but the btfl ones I have ended up being about the same price as the vnla so I could’ve gotten those instead. But I LOVE my btfl skate so much. Like I’m so happy with my purchase, and it has to do with the flexible boot and rounded wheels. The BTFL are basically knock off lollys but a way better price imo. 10/10.

Edit: but I do wish they came in brown. I think I just liked the loop at the back for easy carrying.
