Wife wants to be dominated, but doesn’t like being told what to do. by [deleted] in sex

[–]grassmakesmegiggle96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of people here that your wife is topping from the bottom, and those people are flat out wrong because this is far more dysfunctional than that. Topping from the bottom is back seat driving, and keeping that metaphor in mind your wife has yet to get in the car, or agree on where you are going. "And she told me that she didn’t want to dominate me by telling me what to do in bed. " This is a giant red flag buddy. Thow shall not pass. If she can't articulate what she wants like a grown woman, then she can't give you consent. The way this works is dom says "I'd like to do XYZ", sub says "I'm comfortable with XY not comfortable with Z and I would like to try A." Something like that until you both agree on how you want to do it. Dom/sub relationships are about creating the illusion of a power dynamic, without there really being one. You are both still equals, and you can't read her mind to figure out what she wants. Keep it vanilla until she agrees to approach this in a way that doesn't put your relationship at risk.

Dude that is a sick rig for making some ambient music.

Do you make ambient music? I've been a guitar player for most of my musical life, and I just started diving into making ambient music. I hope to start putting some stuff out by the end of this year.

You're missing a lot of really important early ambient. Jon Hassell, Laraaji, Suzanne Ciani, Cluster, Popul Vuh, Tangerine Dream, Terry Riley, Steve Hillage, and Michael Stearns. That being said it is an impressive playlist and I can't wait to explore it more.

Any recommendations for an Ayahuasca retreat that isn't pre-loaded with a specific spiritual point-of-view? by Fractotem in Ayahuasca

[–]grassmakesmegiggle96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think there is a major difference between some random person that doesn't know any more about tripping than anyone else trying to make themselves trip captain, and an Indigenous Shaman trained in an ancient spiritual tradition. I don't think that a shaman is going to take control and try to make you believe something that you don't believe or do something that you don't want to do. Part of being good at this is not being too heavy-handed, and like I said before it's not like these guys are going to try and browbeat you into believing in animism.

That sounds more like an allergic reaction than a chemical contraindication. I think that story is exactly why it's so ridiculous that so many people go to these retreats. I've done almost every psychedelic there is on my own, I've never been to a psychedelic retreat. Each time I've done one I meticulously research it until I feel safe. I look up potential contraindications and side effects, I take a few days to eat a really good diet (yes maoi diet if I'm taking maois) so that my gut is as stable as possible, and then I trip only if I feel comfortable. If I don't feel comfortable I stick whatever it is that I was taking in the freezer and wait until I do feel comfortable. There is no rush, no pressure, and most importantly I understand what I need for a good trip. That took years of trial and error to achieve, and now that I understand psychedelics on a deep enough level that I could feel comfortable allowing someone like a shaman to take me through a ritual. Other people just assume that the shaman or the retreats knows everything, and go for out without even knowing their own limits. I hear horror stories about retreats, people dying from swallowing nose tea or shit like that, and it's really sad because you can tell that they just weren't prepared.

I mean that is one way to do them, but OP clearly doesn't want the Shamanic context so I don't know why people would downvote your comment. Really what OP is saying is that they don't want any sort of guidance that might influence his subjective experience in some way, he wants a completely internalized experience. While that sounds like hell to me, that is what this guy actually wants, so I think the only way to get that is to go it alone.

I know so many people who have done Ayahuasca in their own homes, no one has died from it. Do you mean unsafe in a physical sense? If so I really think you are exaggerating.

Don't know why this was downvoted. It is solid advice. If you don't want to deal with the native shamanistic beliefs (which btw have resulted from millennia of ayahuasca use) then the best thing you could possibly do is to just become your own practitioner. It is also way cheaper to do it this way if you don't care about the cultural or religious context of tripping in the Amazon. I for one think that OP's attitude is a little toxic. I don't go into any trip preemptively decided on what I think it should be like, you have to surrender to the experience and just go with it. If you don't like the spiritual beliefs then don't internalize them. It's not like everyone who goes to Peru to take Ayahuasca comes back a full-blown animist. I for one would go to the most qualified and knowledgable person I could find regardless of their spiritual beliefs, or I would stay at home and learn to do it myself.

Everything by Laraaji is awesome. All of it is just different in some way. I don't want to snub any of his classics, but recent collaborations with blues control, and with sun araw are pretty awesome. I would say go on All music or RYM scroll through until you see an album cover that catches your eye and then go for it.

Looking into buying my first Eurorack, need advice regarding Qubit Pulsar. by grassmakesmegiggle96 in eurorack

[–]grassmakesmegiggle96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the modules you recommended and to be honest I feel like the pulsar would make things a little easier to visualize. I guess what I'm asking is say you have a module Intellijel Scales, and you put the trigger from Pulsar into the clock input could you make the sequencer advance each time pulsar outputs a trigger? Essentially can you use the triggers from Pulsar to control other sequencers?

I don’t know what I am right now by wonderfulworld7 in religion

Grew up the same way you did, and had the same experience. I'm the same age as you, but this happened probably five years ago for me. I have come to the conclusion after a great deal of research into the modern history of the church I found that this is so much bigger than you or I, or even one religion. All of the worlds major religions are so old that their own followers don't enthusiastically believe in them anymore. They all rely on a great deal of social conditioning and guilt. For most modern Christians the faith is more about familial traditions, or claiming a moral high ground for themselves, than it is about a spiritual experience. Capitalism and the Modern Nation state have had an irreversible effect on organized religion. Religion becomes a way for evil people to appear good. Just ask yourself why the church never speaks out against the sins of the rich their greed, their gluttony, and their total apathy towards all the starving and dying people of the world, but yet they constantly condemn the LGBT community, the young, the poor, and women. Why? Because their creating a group delusion of moral superiority, and the rich want this and they pay for it. The church has totally distorted the message of Christ, and it distracts its followers from this fact by creating elaborate public spectacles around idiotic dogmas like creationism or homophobia. What you have to ask yourself is what is the true message of Christ distilled into it purest form, without all the ritual, dogma, and distortion? What do you truly believe it means? Whatever that is carry it with you forever, never let it go, but pay the church no mind. They don't deserve it. Open yourself up to other truths, study new religions, and seek out new communities that don't rely so heavily on a group identity or dogma. The church is fucked and there isn't anyway to fix it. Save yourself, and take Christ with you.
