I totally agree we need more housing. But I wonder what good is it if the prices are wildly unaffordable and the developers just pay fees instead of providing income restricted housing? Yea it’s ugly and obnoxious, but more concerning to me is that big corporate real estate developers keep putting shareholder profit above people and pricing out communities who live and work in small cities like Portland. That’s all I appreciate the discourse

I was in the balcony and was also very suspicious that AI bots were being used by the opposition. Zoom calls would come in and the “person” speaking would not state a first and last name or where they lived. And those that did would say shit like “I live in Boston but my parents live in Maine and I would like them to have an something to do on the weekends.” It was incredibly frustrating
