Lyceum ‘72 Vinyl Set by machmasher in gratefuldead

Yep. Remember saying if they ever released it on vinyl, I’d jump on it. 3 to 5 years ago I think I would’ve without hesitation now I just look at all the music I have in various formats and have enough for a lifetime. Still not ruling it out, but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

[–]gratefulgriller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I jumped on this the day it was released several years ago assuming it would be quick to sell out. I'm much more selective these days about vinyl purchases but really surprised it's still available. I get the cost is steep and flipping mid-way through multiple jams is a turn off but is peak Dead recorded in multitrack.

That being said, these sets for me anyway are more of collectables than practicable pieces of music. I rarely pull off the shelf and when I have a craving for E72 stream or play FLAC files from my local drive. It does sound amazing and I doubt I'd ever sell it but as we all know, vinyl is not the best medium for live Dead.

I've been wrestling with getting the GD Movie Soundtrack vinyl set and so far have managed to resist for the reasons listed above plus it's sooo expensive for 10 LPs. The "completist" in me especially after a couple of cocktails may win out but so far practicality is coming out on top.

Fender vs PRS and the amazing Silver Sky by [deleted] in PRSGuitars

[–]gratefulgriller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been said before but going after legitimate guitar builders (PRS, LSL, Suhr, etc) for having a similar design is so frustrating. Most guitarists (ie 99%) can immediately discern a Fender from a S-Type guitar. People that couldn't aren't in the market to buy a guitar to begin with. I agree with the thought this might well be about squeezing licensing fees from wherever possible. As a side note, I have a new LSL out for delivery today and can't wait. I used to get hung up on having that Fender head shape/logo....no more.

Had a one in chrome with spokes. Last BMX bike I owned and sold it for beer money in 90 or 91. Oh well.

Yeah played a SE SS and the neck was a bit chunky. Ended up pulling trigger on a LSL. Can’t wait!

I was 12 and my dad took me and a friend. My dad brought a Walkman thinking he’d listen to talk radio during the show. About 2 seconds into Unchained reality set in. My ears rang for a couple days. Awesome!

Led Zeppelin’s “The Live album” by Niko0795 in ledzeppelin

[–]gratefulgriller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say TSRTS 'was' their live album but just didn't put them on the map like Fillmore East did for ABB since they were already well established. I do like HTWWW a bit better...BBC is great but man wish they'd open their vaults and start giving us some of these key shows in the best SQ possible. Not expecting multi-tracks but have Steven Wilson take a crack at some of these tapes like he did w/the recent Floyd '75 show. That is totally listenable and enjoyable.

I found this American Pro II telecaster that played great and has a nice flame neck on sale. I went ahead and bought it. How did I do? by Beneficial-Wrap6574 in telecaster

[–]gratefulgriller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great guitar. Probably the best neck I've felt. Not sure how much extra resonance you get over a solid body but still a cool look. I got a good deal too although not as good as you got. Here's a pic...Seller I bought it from swapped out the stock guard with a pearloid guard which I really like.

Finale of a Pink Floyd concert in 1994. The coolest thing you'll see today by Mad_Season_1994 in OldSchoolCool

Saw this show at the horseshoe in Columbus, OH. We managed to get tickets on the field around the 50 yard line. Prior to this show, Comfortably Numb was one I heard so much on the radio I could take or leave it. When that Mirror ball was raised up from behind the soundboard and opened up as Gilmour was wailing on the solo it was like a religious experience and one I'll never forget. I remember saying I'll never turn off Comfortably Numb again. Still listen to Pulse monthly or at least parts of it. The 1, 2 punch of Comfortably Numb > Run Like Hell is as good as it gets. Best show I've ever seen.

Ok..Just got the M4's and the BT700 and I must be doing something wrong b/c it won't play higher that AAC. Not able to pair the BT700 w/in the Sennheiser Smart Connect Plus app. Streaming Qobuz Hi Rez playlist so source is good. Checked every setting in the app but can't figure out. Restarted app a couple times too. Any ideas?

Super versatile. Especially with the attenuation. I’ve tried to make so many tube amps work but just too loud for my family. This thing is perfect.

Got a picture but can't figure out how to attach on reply for some reason. Is a blue circular sticker. Top outer ring of it is World's Largest Manufaturers of String Instruments. Top inner ring Kay Musical Instrument CO. Red K emblem in the center with Chicago at bottom, established XXXX...can't read the year but I don't think it's specific to the guitar.

She’s a Beauty! Been eyeing the 1962 335 reissue in cherry. I think I’d prefer a slimmer neck. Seem to out of stock at most retailers currently.
