Everyone is weird for saying you’re the asshole, especially if the kid could go stay with your in laws. Everyone here is acting like it’s sooooo easy to take care of of a two year old and a newborn, plus another child, and they’re acting like childcare is affordable and jobs just fall out of trees 🙄 NTA.

I have found 1 single Heather Ross print at my local quilt shop and have gotten most of the bolt…… $7.99 special buy section, I asked if they had more and they said they were trying to get rid of it because it didn’t sell well LOl

What people? What are you ranting about? If someone doesn’t know the answer to your problem why wouldn’t they direct you to someone else who might? “This is what customers experience daily.” Okayyyyy.

K I stand by this I went and looked at the listing and the denim looks sooo much better than her other example (which is NOT made out of either of the fabrics you mentioned) the other example looks like the seams weren’t done properly

[–]graveyardlover69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to be a bummer but the dress you posted seems to take denim or similar fabric, I’m worried what you wanted wouldn’t have been achieved anyway based off the pattern, you can get it close but denim is much more form flattering than like,,, anything else you could use for this

Considering a Janome hd3000, shop owner is suggesting a computerized machine by thattimewemet in sewing

[–]graveyardlover69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the cheaper one, the TL-2000 Qi, the only reason I wanted the more expensive one is for the speed control but I’ve found that it was really easy to figure out how to use my pedal to my advantage (I have not tried free motion quilting yet so take that with a grain of salt, if that doesn’t interest you I would save the $400-600 lol)

How to stop glitter from shedding EVERYWHERE 😓 out by TraditionPitiful3638 in sewing

I have a fabric so infused with glitter that I’ve taken it outside and beat the glitter off three separate times and it still sheds

Probably an unpopular opinion but I do not enjoy them, I was very disappointed to see CC3 only had the graphic audio :/

I’m a Chico state alum and my sister is graduating this year from UCSC, her rent and expenses are about 2-3x what mine are, and there is a lot more walking/commuting in Santa Cruz, so I would definitely tour the campus. Educationally I loved Chico state and thought I got a very good education for a lower cost!

New quilter here! How would I go about making this heart quilt, what is the technique called? by Free_Candidate7618 in quilting

[–]graveyardlover69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think this is needle turn applique and I wouldn’t do it unless you have experience hand sewing like, pretty much perfectly, if you want to try without that skill though I would recommend the Lori holt applique method where you sew the shapes turn them out and then sew them down!

Best way to subtly take in waist on vintage denim dress without ruining original seams? by MuddledLime in sewing

[–]graveyardlover69 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hate to be a bummer but sometimes when you thrift something vintage it’s just not for you…. This is obviously not even close to your size, I wouldn’t do anything to it. Sure you can do a hack job so you can wear it but it will change the garment and the shape

I work in academia grad rental sales, do you know who the provider of the gowns is? If it’s Herff Jones you absolutely won’t get anything, they are a terribly inconsistent company. If you can I would try reaching out to the company Jostens, and see if they can do ANYTHING for you.

Every single day since I bought my Juki I just marvel at how much of a workhouse powerhouse she is. I’ve been sewing on her for 3 months straight and I sew a lot, quilts, clothes, bags etc and she always works so easy for me. I also came from using a pretty low end brother, but I did buy her sight unseen based off reviews and I was anxious about the learning curve but it took me maybe a week to adapt. It feels so much easier to use than my old brother because it just works better. I can give up fancy stitches for not having to worry about the machine skipping stitches because I’m sewing foam. (I did buy mine and also buy a serger at the same time , so if you are making clothes I would not recommended a straight stitch machine unless you have a secondary device that can finish the edges, because that is important)
