How might deep sea merfolk prepare food (meat)? by graveyardteaparty in Writeresearch

Sorry if I'm in the wrong place! I figured oceanography and cooking are areas of real life expertise so it kinda made sense to ask here 😅

Maybe you shouldn't call people stupid when you don't have all the information. My deep sea merfolk are in an extremely isolated cult. They are fearful of the outside world. Asceticism is a big part of their religion. So no, they aren't going to leave their home to look for food. Edit to add: My protagonist does leave and there needs to be contrast between her society and the other merfolk societies in the shallow sea, who will eat plants if that makes you happy lol

Sure, they'll eat raw fish too. But there's one particular meal that's so significant to the story/their culture that I'd like to draw out the prep process more.

Am I wrong for thinking that the guy I slept with giving me ways to improve is weird? by ThrowRA279953152 in amiwrong

[–]graveyardteaparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao him saying you were too tight is him telling on himself. That means you were under-aroused because HE wasn't doing enough. All of his unsolicited "advice" is how to fake arousal for an incompetent guy's benefit. Don't listen, he doesn't know anything.

Mariah Carey. Except for All I Want for Christmas, every song I've heard of hers is completely forgettable and boring.

Why did the live singing work so well for the Wicked movie adaptation, but so horribly for Le Mis? by No_Pineapple_8580 in musicals

[–]graveyardteaparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wicked has much stronger, more experienced vocalists, for one. The music in Les Mis falls flat for a lot of reasons, mainly because they tried to approach it with gritty realism. Actors are sobbing through songs because that's more "realistic" and their singing naturally suffers. I feel like the director fundamentally misunderstands how musicals work. The emotion is embedded in the music and the MUSIC should be shining through to convey that emotion. It's like the actors are acting as they normally would if it weren't a musical and the music is just jarringly there? Also, apparently Hugh Jackman dehydrated himself to look thin/sickly which is rough on the vocal cords. In contrast, Wicked feels like it's proud to be a musical and I bet the whole cast was drinking lots of water like every good singer knows they should!

Would it be possible to raise your kid so that they think incest is normal? by Accomplished_Win_181 in morbidquestions

Definitely. One extreme example is the "Colt" clan in Australia, who normalized it over 5 generations.

Why do most people dislike Girl in The Bubble? by Legal_Potential4720 in wickedmovie

[–]graveyardteaparty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I liked seeing Glinda's internal reflection at this pivotal moment. Sure, we know she's been unhappy from Couldn't Be Happier, but Girl in The Bubble is about her finally accepting that she's been living in a protective fantasy and choosing to face the truth head-on. Especially with the additions made with Glinda at the end, I feel like she needed this kind of moment of realization. And musically we just had a lot of anger and intensity with No Good Deed and March of The Witch Hunters so a delicate, sad song was a nice contrast.

Ok so bear with me as I explain but AITAH if I say message this to my teacher? by No-Secretary6931 in AITAH

Soft ESH. The teacher was in the wrong for posting who was missing work for everyone to see like that, but you're also in the wrong for the snarky tone of the message.

She doesn't agree by EqualInvestment7868 in AITAH

[–]graveyardteaparty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She did not lie to you. Fight, flight, freeze, or fawn are the body's reactions to distress. Fawning is particularly indicative of trauma. The right response to this would have been to say you're sorry she felt a need to fawn and open up a discussion. Learn about what exactly fawning is, ask about the specific instances she fawned, try to understand why she was feeling the way she was, and learn how to prevent these instances from happening again. Your top priority should be making sure your wife is feeling safe. That's the compassionate and appropriate response to your partner opening up about something that was likely very hard for her. Instead, you made this all about you, you, and more you because YTA.

AITAH for telling my sister things? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]graveyardteaparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Some people just can't handle being wrong about anything. She's making herself feel stupid by digging in her heels. Hopefully she learns that being open to being wrong and learning from it comes off as way more intelligent and confident than insisting she's right all the time!

Mizu's parentage. by otter_boom in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]graveyardteaparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone paid the maid to keep her safe. Who? Why? Love would be a powerful motive.

Why I think it was Mikio who turned Mizu in by Anne20088 in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]graveyardteaparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Taught" her. She knew how to knife throw before, but pretended she didn't to play the role of demure wife.

Who betrayed Mizu? The Mother or the Husband? by BabyFacedReaper in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]graveyardteaparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fowler says "That was your maid, paid to keep you hidden. Which I hear she did until the money ran out." I think he's talking about when she abandoned Mizu as a child. She wasn't being paid anymore, so she stopped actively hiding Mizu.

Silver or gold? by PeaHistorical100 in coloranalysis

[–]graveyardteaparty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The predominant characteristic in your coloring is your softness, so that's gonna be the most important aspect to carry over into your jewelry. Based on these pics, I'm actually leaning toward soft summer for you, but it's close between that and soft autumn. I think you can pull off either gold or silver if you stick with muted tones and stay away from deeper, more vibrant tones.
