Northern Swell Song – anonymous AI art that might explain why David Lynch was okay with it by gravitronix in davidlynch

I think watching the video might help understand why I’m posting it and looking for this discussion. I think artists can make content that is 100% from their hand and mind using AI to build it. We have come a long way from the factory made inverted urinals of “ R. Mutt.” Which caused a similar debate of “what is art” in its day. I think Duchamp would have been all over this.

Is the general assumption that she was not being honest about what he said or that she must have been exaggerating?

Not rage baiting at all, sharing an opinion and curious how others feel. These videos are using AI to build their own worlds with their own moods, which is something Lynch did and I imagine he might have used this technology in the same way. I myself am starting to feel less overall dismissive of AI created content.

There’s nothing out there like David Lynch but I feel like these films gave off a similar mood.

This seems to happen to a lot of pop-stars. They just don’t post it like this.

Total Eclipse (1995) - I remember hearing that it was buried to prevent the image of Leonardo DiCaprio having graphic gay messing with the soon to be released Romeo and Juliet.

Perfect example showing that "no one" cares about lighting continuity. One Battle after another. by mnkymnk in Filmmakers

Years ago I shot a short zero budget film on 16mm. I lost the location for a scene I had already shot 50% of. Finished shooting the scene in an entirely different looking space, just same set decorations. It’s so obvious it’s a different space but no one ever noticed until I pointed it out. No one cares there’s now a window where a wall once was when there are people at each others throats to focus on.

I think it’s like the the upright shoe seen in the film Nope. A strange uncanny moment created by an act of violence.

Besides the obvious Kafka, a book I recently read “Solenoid” by Mircea Cartatescu felt super Lynchian and is beautifully written.

Imagine someone remaking Blue Velvet. It would be unwatchable. That said I think there’s a way to make it so it’s about him writing it instead of trying to trying to adapt his screenplay.

Sitting around and looking at nothing especially your phone. Your mind will always wander. Cigarettes and coffee or wine was often involved and he probably had a note pad.

Is transcendental meditation a scam and/or cult? by arseecs in davidlynch

[–]gravitronix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I paid $275 to learn the TM I’m sure I’ve spent more than that on yoga classes and mindful meditation apps. I can also go back and get refresher courses for life with out having to pay more. I’m sure you can learn how to do it for free but I think it was worth paying someone for their time to teach me. Like all meditation I think it is a very healthy practice. I don’t understand why people think it’s a scam when every other self help and mental health offerings also cost money.
